My next OT health question - Mirena IUD- Sorry boys!!

Hi gang,

I'm posting here, as we're mostly girls, and I have seen a familiar name

pop up in other forums on this topic.

I was wondering- has anyone had the Mirena IUD put in, and if so, how

was it for you? It's been suggested for me, as I have really heavy

bleeding (no fibroids or endo, just a bloody heavy time of it), and an

almost psychologically ready for a hysterectomy, but wanted to explore

other avenues first, as the H will be too disruptive.

I did have an Implanon put in a few years back, and it was a horrible

bugger, I had it out after 20 months. Moody, moody, moody, weight gain ,

and moody again- I think the contraceptive component wasn't the effect

on the ovulation, more of a big mood killer. It really did my head in,

and I attribute my going over 100 kilos to that bloody thing- thus the

band.

So I typically want all of the benefits, and none or minimal side

effects- if there's a weight gain side effect listed, I'll be the one to

get it, and it is listed, but I just wanted to know how it is if anyone

has one. I'm really sceptical about artificial hormones as I'm really

responsive to them, my mum had breast cancer, so I'm wary on that

account, and I don't want this option to be another thing that I try

and fail at- thus the homework.
