Im not sure which is the more common of the two with DS but AML is the

better kind for kids with DS. Im not exactly sure what the survival

rates are so dont quote me but its something like 90%+ for AML and 78%

for ALL. Its strange as it is completely backwards from typical kids.

it AML or ALL? Are the treatment success rates the same for both

Hi all,

I have been learning a lot from all of your posting,

thanks! Out of curiosity, how old is everyone? Age of

diagnosis, years living w/RA?

ps, I am 30.

Thanks and enjoy the Labor Day holiday.

Curiosity Question

Hi,

I'm 59 and diagnosed at 49. I had a neck injury and it wasn't getting better.

I was sent to a Rheumy and told along with the neck problem I have RA. He did

mention one time that the neck problem could have triggered the RA. No one else

in my family has ever had this problem. I lost an entire career to this

disease. I was put on ssd.

I've been on meds since my diagnosis, however, none seemed to work very well

until Enbrel/Humira was started a few years ago. Every now and then, I try

to eliminate some of the meds, but never seem to be able to. I'm in the

" doughnut hole " right now with Medicare Part D which means that I have NO

drug coverage right now. The last 3 months have cost about $550/month. I'm

also on meds for my blood pressure and asthma. Sorry to go off and I'm sure

everyone here is very familiar with drug costs, just getting fed up and

don't know how much longer I can afford to pay these prices. Best wishes

for a peaceful night for all.

Oh, I forgot to mention that my RA started off much like yours. I

remember when I had just one swollen finger. At first the RA went from

joint to joint, like a barhopper, LOL. It wasn't bilateral, either. One

joint would hurt for a day or two; then it would be some other one.

Before long, however, every joint was hurting.

I am 76 and was dx'd with rheumatism in 1977 then about 4 or 5 yrs

ago was dx'd with RA. My lumbar area got so bad in 1999 that I had

to retire from nursing.

A low pressure has come in and every part of my body knows it

especially the lumbar area.
