Funny you should ask that. I was told i didn't have to do the

optifast, and then 2 weeks ago i had to go and see a general surgeon

for something else and he also does lap banding, so my consultation

took over an hour, 10 mins on my presenting prob, and then the rest

of the time he was talking to me about lap banding!

He told me that although I was told i didn't need optifast

(apparently if you are under 110kg? you don't need it) that is should

do it anyway, to decrease that fattyness of the liver ( which makes

it fryable, and when they retract the Liverto get to the stomach

there is the potential to damage it if it is fatty). So i am being

really strict with the optifast, been on it 7 days now and have lost

a couple kg. Will do it again this week and then have my seafood

fiesta in Sat night. and then dinner with my parent sunday night then

its band day!!

So i guess the answer to your question is that i am being strict up

until friday!! LOL

Well done Juzzy. That sounds like a good plan. At least by giving the

Optifast a go, you've given yourself the best shot at a good

recovery...and the less you weigh by banding date, the less you have to

loose after really! Im under 110kgs aswell, but trying to still be

" good " until op date.....Im successful some days, then other days very

relaxed. Don't wanna run out of puff even before I start!
