Guest guest
Call or go to the Social Security Office for an interview to apply for disability. I would make an appointment to go to the local office to apply. You will have to know all jobs you've had for the last 15 years, all your complaints/diseases, and some past personal history for them to identify you in their system. Apply for Social Security Disability and the agent will tell you if you are eligible for SSI, a State run " welfare " program with food stamps and other benefits, depending on your income. After that, you might consider getting a lawyer to help you. That way, you can " sit back and relax " while the lawyer handles the headaches. And, no, they won't laugh you out of the door. They are more helpful now than when I applied in 1991. Before now, I'd been saying you don't need a lawyer until I started helping my wife with hers. Her problem is that she hasn't been diagnosed with one cincher to use, just a number of things that her doctor has identified as disabling. I sent her to a lawyer because I couldn't help her enough. Guest guest
, Talk to your doctor first and tell him, you are thinking of applying for disability. See if he is going to do the paper work for you. If he is in your corner I would go see an attorney. Go to an attorney who deals with social security disability. It is a process and having someone knowledgeable in this field is a major help.
