Hi :

Welcome to the group! Yes, I was first put on

Plaquenil, Motrin, and Pred when dx 7 years ago. I

was on and off the Pred for the next 2-1/2 years, but

continued taking Plaq and Motrin. Did very well on

those two for that length of time, then the Plaq

became not as effective. Went on to other meds after

that.

The other meds the doctor might think about putting

you on, the other DMARDs, are either used with Plaq or

in place of it, depending on how your body reacts.

Sometimes a combination of DMARDs is what is needed -

right now I am on Mtx and Enbrel, and that is doing

well for me in keeping my RA in control.

Thanks Kathe, I'm so glad I found this group. It really does help to

read about other people's experiences with RA. One question: when you

were on the Plaquenil + NSAIDs, how long were you on them before you

noticed them working? I've been on Plaquenil for about 10+ weeks, and

20mg (increased from 10mg) about 3 days. If I had a better idea of

the waiting period needed for these drugs to take effect, I think I

wouldn't feel so frustrated. Thanks for your time.
