Guest guest
I've been researching the salmon dilemma... great source of DHA/EFAs but contaminated with mercury/pcbs/dioxins etc. I know ozone is of use to remove toxins from fruits and foods. I wonder if soaking salmon in ozonated water for an extended duration would substantially reduce the toxins, not just on the surface but within the fish. The other concern is whether the ozone would oxidize the healthy oils such as the EFAs/DHAs. I understand that salmon are low in antioxidants. Any input is appreciated. This applies to all meats in general. best
Guest guest
Dear , I am doubtful about the ozone penetrating the flesh of the salmon. No problem on the surface, but down into the flesh...? In humans, mercury gets concentrated in several areas, such as liver and brain and intestine. My guess is that it is the same with salmon, so the flesh would seem to be the safest area. We eat it a lot, and we don't worry about it. Best of Health! Guest guest
Salmons come in various sizes, vary by sub-types. Regarding getting toxins amount, a fish-vendor once told me that as soon as one eats less than 2 lbs a week, it'll be fine. - Subject: Re: Ozonating salmon To: oxyplus Date: Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 12:13 AM Dear , I am doubtful about the ozone penetrating the flesh of the salmon.
