Guest guest
Our best adrenal support is 50 mgs C, 25 mgs pantethine or 100 mgs pantothenic acid and 5 mgs of B6 every 3 hours round the clock. This is not popular, due to the round the clock thing, but it works. Also good for allergies. You could try it during rounds. Best if given with a source of calcium and protein, also a problem if your kid is cf. Calcium is needed for best absorption of C. Guest guest
We use Enzymatic Therapy Adrenal Cortex Extract (250 mg) and use 2-3 a day along with lots of C and pantothenic acid 3-4 times a day. In a 6yo I guess I would start with 1/2 cap twice daily and increase as needed. Depending on what symptoms you're starting with, you should see less irritability, better stress tolerance, easier to calm down if there is an upset, feeling more " on " and focused, that sort of thing. If you don't see improvement, increase by one cap at a time. --
Guest guest
I posted this morning, but it hasn't shown up yet. Sorry in advance for the double post if it suddenly appears! I have a question about giving adrenal cortex extract when the body doesn't need it---is it bad for the body? What would you look for? The kids and I had all-low hair tests, so we don't show the typical adrenal fatigue signs with the relationship of Ca/Mg/K/Na. Curious, in Illinois
Guest guest
My naturopath has me on supplements for adrenal support, and they have helped tremendously. It seems to me that supplementation could be beneficial to someone weaning off prednisone. Sierra

Guest guest
Thanks for the clarification, . These symptoms make it a little harder to peg. Is it recommended to support the adrenals for a 2 yo, 4 yo, and 6 yo as a precautionary measure (support with Adrenal Cortex Extract, that is)? Or do you wait until you are certain? And if you begin giving the adrenal cortex extract, how long does it take to see improvements in these symptoms? Thanks for your time! Guest guest
Jenni, It should be relatively safe to use this with any kids. Are your kids having any of these symptoms with regularity? It's probably best to give things if you suspect there is a problem. You should see a difference in a week or two with ACE. Guest guest
Well, my 2 yo fits it best . . . a little bit aggressive, really irritable on days when her pH drops(her first morning urine pH will be almost 7, she'll be really cranky, the next morning her first morning urine will be 5.8 or lower, she is really happy that day), tearful YES!, fatigued half the time. It is just hard to determine whether the degree of these symptoms calls for extra help. I do see a lot of other children her age display these symptoms to the degree that she has them, but I also am of the mind that the " norm " is not necessarily " healthy. " I think there are a lot of undiagnosed kids with the " lesser " spectrum issues . . . ADD and the like. OK, that being said, the only symptoms she is missing is anxiety and depression (simply because I don't know how to determine whether a 2 yo is depressed or not). My 4 yo has anxiety in new situations where he feels pressured by expectations. An example was when we signed him up for a little soccer team. He absolutely didn't want to play because he felt like he had to be Beckham before he stepped on the field. He completely broke down crying after the first day because he didn't make a goal even though his team won the game. He said he never wanted to play again. In the second game, he made a goal and the anxiety was gone. He can also be aggressive, but - honestly - I don't think it is out of the normal realm of " boyishness " . He can also be tearful (or moody). My 6 yo can be rather aggressive at times (for a girl). She also slips into tearful (moody) states. I have all these adrenal questions because I will be using the ACE on myself (I desperately need it). And, all of us will be beginning iodine supplementation because we all have symptoms of hypothyroidism. I do remember reading in AI that the adrenals should be supported before the thyroid (if the adrenals show symptoms of fatigue) or it could make the adrenals worse. However, I know his book is more geared towards adults. I didn't know if there was a different take on this for pre-pubescent kids. Guest guest
This is clearly not my area of expertise. However, I know that the adrenal glands do produce a limited amount of sex hormones. See article. http://www.newrainbowbridge.com/articles/lupron.htm I am seeing this as a case of precoious puberty. Suggest listening to the Geiers: http://www.autismmedia.org/media4.html Problem here may not be limited to adrenal glands. This may be high testosterone brought about by mercury poisoning. Again, suggest listening to the Geiers. Cochran <Ladyshrink111@...> wrote: Whoa, this got confused, I gave you the signs for adrenal cortex, Abid gave you the signs for high testosterone, two very different things. The allergy research cortex extract is just 50 mgs, right? If so start with one. We give Nutricology, 250 mgs and use just one along with lots of C and pantothenic acid and pantethine in her multi, 3 times a day. [ ] Re: adrenal support My son does have elevated levels of testosterone (per a test done a year ago). His level was 17 ng/dL, and the normal range had a limit of 10 ng/dL. My girls weren't tested. However, my oldest daughter fondles her clitoris more than I care to admit. So these are the signs that they are in need of adrenal support? If I were to begin using the Adrenal Cortex Extract by Allergy Research, do you have any recommendations for introducing this. My children's weights are as follows: 43 lb., 40 lb., 25 lb. Your help is appreciated. What types of things would indicate that a child needs adrenal support? > > > > > > > --------------------------------- > 8:00? 8:25? 8:40? Guest guest
Anita I've noticed the same with my daughter. She has exhibited all the symptoms of adrenal fatigue for quite some time. I had tried ACE quite a while back and she didn't seem to tolerate it well at the time. I reintroduced it several weeks ago (1/2 cap Adrenergize in the morning) as a last ditch effort at getting her to sleep thru the night and it worked! She used to ALWAYS wake up at 2 am, come down into our bed and stay awake for 2-4 hours. Since starting the ACE she still wakes and comes down to our bed, but she goes back to sleep right off which has been very nice. I would like to try increasing the dose to see if it will help her to stay in her bed all night. Would it be better to give a higher dose in the morning or give 1/2 cap in the am, then 1/2 cap later in the day? How is everyone else dosing this? Thanks Sheresa > > > > What types of things would indicate that a child needs adrenal > support? > > >
Guest guest
I'm an old adult and take adrenal hormones - pregnenolone and DHEA. Taking over 20 mg for more than a few days probably causes receptor adjustment, and so I take these hormones every third day. If you stop taking these hormones suddenly considerable symptoms are possible. And some of these symptoms involve the heart and are dangerous. So if your child regularly takes any kind of adrenal support, then please seek information before stopping this support. Mo
