Guest guest
Hi Dani, Welcome to the group. While Pearl has been blessed with the ability to eat white/wheat flour without problems (you lucky woman, you!), it really truly is the majority of DS patients that cannot tolerate these foods without gas and bowel issues. I am over 5 years out and still have to avoid flour. Starchy foods can also cause occasional problems for me, as well. However, I work in television, not medicine. So, this is something Dr. K will discuss with you when you make an appointment. He's the one who can tell you best if the DS is for you. Guest guest
Hi Dani! I used to have a problem with rice for the first several years though that's not much of a problem anymore. I still cannot eat beans of any kind. I have to be careful not to eat a lot of french fries in one sitting or I will definitely suffer. Other than fries, potatoes are okay, though. Corn was a problem for the first few years, too, but that has also improved. The further out, the better it gets except for flour and beans. I just have to avoid white/wheat flour and beans or I WILL have problems. Most of the time I take pity on my husband and behave myself. Tracey > > Hi Tracey, > Thank you so much for taking the time to welcome me. Well, I have to say I'd rather have problems with just flour after DS than having the issues with all food in general like I am now. What other starchy foods cause you problems? Man, there are people in all different walks of life on this board, this is great! > > Dani >
Guest guest
Dani, I think I missed your original post..been swamped lately. Welcome to to the board. I am in and out on the board depending on by work schedule. I can eat anything...BUT things like rise and white flour noodles bloat me horribly and cause gas. Can eat wheat noodles no problem. Jelly beans go thru me really FAST ! Sweets otherwise are no problem for me which is too bad as I have now had my rebound weight at almost 3 years of about 12 pounds. But I am still at a lower weight than I ever dreamed and wear a size 12, and started in tight 26/28's. I can't hardly eat anything, especially beans. I probably wouldn't be able to tell. I would love to have been able to have enjoyed the last 2 years of my life. They have been such a waste and I have been so miserable. Right, I understand not to overstuff myself either. > > Love you too, > Dani >
