Hey folks...check out the new photo of Marla.

Okay, this is embarrassing. I sent the wrong picture to Jo to put in the

photo section for me. I just sent her the correct one. I had on

a-one-size-fits-all shirt in that picture and I bought it in Bakersfield after

surgery.

It is huge on me and being the vain person I have become recently it makes me

look fat. Funny, now I am experiencing things I have never had to think

about before like belt overhang, looking lumpy, etc. It is because I have

always

worn my clothes so loose because I was hiding my collective chubby

(optimistic use of the word chubby) self.

The update on the house is this. Everything works but the fireplace needs

to be adjusted. Our son Mike came yesterday and stayed over night and he

helped Ron build the back cement block wall. It is low, about four rows high

and

borders the patio that faces the golf course. The property is bordered with

huckleberry and ferns and large trees. It is a peaceful, serene view. We

are surrounded by trees through all the windows. I just pray nobody builds

next to us. We have a lot and a half. The thing I missed most about

Washington when we were in Denver was the lack of beautiful trees. The things

I miss

most about Denver is the beautiful weather. You California, Arizona, and

Alabama people understand the good weather part. You all have sunny, Vitamin D

producing weather. We Northwesteners fight for our sun.

The kitchen turned out just like I wanted but couldn't visualize. The walk

in pantry is my favorite plus the granite. I am getting used to using

convection ovens but it has the standard options also. We are having the

windows

professionally cleaned tomorrow because of all the construction dust, etc.

Then we will keep it up. The window coverings should be here in the next week

or so. Then I will grapple with what I want to do about valences. I am not

a " drape " person. I like clean lines and nothing " foo foo " or country. But,

you would be surprised at all the stuff you collect when you have been

married for 42 years. I have been having fun buying house plants. Everything

grew in Denver and my history of having houseplants in Washington has not been

stellar. I even killed a rubber plant that my dying sister sent me to thank

me for taking care of her. That was a low point in my horticulture history.

The last thing to be done inside the house besides window coverings is Ron

is doing the final grouting of the tile in the master bathroom. Now we can

turn on the floor heat after a 21 day wait for everything to settle. Nothing

like a warm floor in the middle of the night.

Ron and Mike went to our granddaughters fastpitch game so I think I will go

up in the bonus room and unpack pictures. I went on my first long walk

yesterday and I felt good and feel great today so I will make it part of my

routine. I have been babying my knees in preparation of having my knees

replaced

so other than Yoga classes I have not been exercising much. I am getting

better at doing it now that my life is slowing down a little.

Sorry for the long post. Happy Mother's Day everyone.

Marla
