Guest guest
Hi everyone -Shenanigans is going to have a lot going on this year as we begin to add more performing arts and other activities to our signature improvisational theatre activities. We hope to see lots of new faces join our groups. We provide inclusive activities that target social communication skills, self-esteem, thinking on your feet, accepting change and dealing appropriately with it - and we have a lot of fun in the process! Siblings and "typical" peers welcomed along with those having Asperger's, HFA, and related conditions. Our weekly classes start Jan 9. We have classes most days of the week in many neighborhoods, for all age ranges - child through adult. We've even got a new PARENTS' CLASS on Friday mornings in Alpharetta! It's not easy being the parent of a child on the autism spectrum, is it? Every minute you spend with your child can be a learning opportunity - for good or for bad. That's why Shenanigans is here to help you make those teachable moments good ones! We've created a new Parents' Class tailored especially for you withdiscussion, activities, and helpful hints that will give you a better working relationship with your child. Using improvisational theatre exercises, we'll cover how to make the most of non-verbal communication, role-playing, identifying feelings and emotions in others, accepting change and dealing with it, and...(ta-da!) how to manage a meltdown! We want this class to be "your time" to have some fun and to learn some helpful techniques from , an experienced "autism daddy" who also happens to be one heck of a funny dude! So get ready to let your hair down, laugh, and learn with Shenanigans! (If we get enough interest, we'll try to schedule an evening class, too!)Check out our schedule here for details on any of our classes and contact me if you would like to know more.Wishing you all a year filled with laughter and light!Sandy Bruce, Founder & Exec DirectorSpectrum Arts, Inc.
