Guest guest
On the Show ring aspect of this. I have had the judges refer to my animals that milk extended lactations as 'Stale' and therefore do not place them higher up in the line. However these same does were awarded many championships and even Best In Show when they were in their first year of being fresh. It seems that an extended lactation is used 'against' them instead if in their favor. It's a shame in that respect. The doe that is now in her extended lactation has been once grand champion and once reserve grand champion. In my opinion she is not the most beautiful animal in my herd but she is one of the best milkers for obvious reasons. She is now 6 1/2 years old.
