--- [stemCellDR] update Ben

Date: Wed, 9 May 2012 13:44:16 -0400 (EDT)

Hi, everybody, a quick update. My son Ben is 7 years old. He received BM and Adipose stem cell treatments on April 19th. He responded very quickly to the treatments, Ben's teachers, OT and PT therapists have all commented on the improvements they are seeing. Ben continues to show signs of improvement in many areas. He is making more sounds and seems to be more motivated to talk (Ben is non-verbal) He is more willing to imitate sounds and follow directions. He is more spontaneous when waving good bye and saying "hi", "thank you" and "I want more". Rather than having to be prompted he is starting to do things on his own. This morning when he got up he went into the bathroom all by himself! His motor planning has improved, Ben has difficulty dressing himself, we have been working on self help skills forever, things like putting on his jeans, taking off his shirt, feeding himself prove to be difficult. Normally when Ben is eating I have to put the food on

the fork and he then gets some of it into his mouth. Lately Ben has been able to scoop the food onto the fork by himself and most of the food does get into his mouth! When putting on sweats or pants Ben usually puts both feet/legs into one pant leg. No matter how many times I've shown him how to put his pants on he never seemed to grasp the concept. For the past two days I've been putting his jeans on the couch and telling him to put them on. When I came back the jeans were on. All I had to do was snap and zip! Ben is into everything!!! He is opening drawers, playing in the bath (normally Ben would get stuck, 2 cups fill and pour pour and fill...), he is putting things in the toilet.... all good things (well maybe not the toilet!!!) lol. I tell family and friends I went to DR with one child and returned with a different one. lol Prior to DR Ben spent most of his time focused on stimming (he holds the fabric part and swings the man) Ben has always

flapped things (table cloths, strings, shirts, anything that hangs down......) Now he continues to stim but he also looks for other things to get into!

I am so thankful for all the changes! I am looking forward to seeing many more changes.

Take care
