Guest guest
Hello all. Hope someone can help me with some advice or perhaps the name of a good attorney I can ask a few questions about changing child support to alimony now that my child is over 18. I need to be able to get SSI for her, but I can't with still receiving substantial child support. Problem is that I will be putting her in a host/group home shortly, so I will have to get her the SSI for that or else pay the home $700 a month! My ex still owes me alimony, so that at least is still on the court order. Do not know if I need to get the court order changed or can just tell Social Security that I do not receive child support any more, as I consider that alimony now. It's all very confusing and I need help solving this. I must have this money to live on and maintain the home I have had for my child these past 7 years, so that she can still come here to her old home and room several times a week. I just cannot handle her 24/7 anymore by myself, as I am still single and live alone. Thanks for any help or advice in advance.
