Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am the father of a 3.5 y/o who is being professionally evaluated now and is likely either autistic or PDD-NOS. He has digestive issues, is a VERY picky eater (has digestive issues), speech delayed (though he can say words) and is currently in a special needs preschool. We are anticipating that ABA therapy will be recommended along with speech therapy, OT for feeding, and possibly other treatments. He is covered by Peachcare but I read conflicting opinions about what, if anything, it will cover. We cannot afford $500+/wk out-of-pocket for ABA - are there any other options available? Should I apply for this MWRP waiver (I am self-employed and make above the income threshold for Medicaid). The Demming waiver doesn't seem appropriate as my son is covered by Peachcare now - is this true? I have also talked with the Marcus Autism Center (and it does appear they accept Peachcare/Medicaid). Can anyone comment on them and whether it would be worthwhile to pursue treatment with this group (I have talked with them and it seems like quite a process just to get someone on the phone there). Thank you in advance to any and all that could lend some insight into this - we are new to all of this and it is quite overwhelming,
