I know that from experience. I lived with blaming myself for my failure for 5 yrs, until dr Booth scoped me and said it was not my fault. I sat there and point blank asked him how I did this and he said it was nothing you did. It was doomed from the start. (oddly constructed). As a member of several revision groups, this is a constant. Instead of looking for a cause, they blame the pt for noncompliance. Now my point is, If it were constructed right the compliance wouldn't be an issue. If I had the will power and could eat only a few bites at a time then the surgery would not be needed. Dr K said as more RNYs are being done, as time goes on he is seeing more and more revisions. Actually there is a paper on it on the web site that he wrote for the journals. Mel
Guest guest
Marta, If you had to pick a RNY doctor around here who would you pick??? I'm sure you know of a lot of them. Dani mjs93311 wrote: Yep, Bobbe, a friend who had the RNY several years ago is a success. His surgeon takes pics of him everytime he sees him and takes him back for free for follow-up. I laughed and told him it is probably because he is the " star " patient! He is a star, too, very healthy with his new self. He works at it, follows instructions to a T. That is not to imply that those who regain are not compliant, just that he is. Otherwise, lets see, I have " inherited " a few RNY patients as a PCP and I am not so impressed with the follow-up care given locally, nor with the regain. I agree, they have to fight harder to keep it off. Marta > > Did you know... > People who have the RNY regain 30% of their weight in the first 3 years > post op? You will find we have several revisions here and I think there is a special group for revisions, right, Mel? Marta _________________ Yep! It is also harder to find a doc willing to do revisions. One doc in anniston wanted a 10 K deposit before he would lay a finger on my sister. The group is DS_revisions if remember right. Go to yahoo groups and type in revision and ds, or revision and WLS. Guest guest
No, actually now I'm in Porterville. I was in the Visalia area. My RNY surgeon was in Fresno. I wish I would have never had it done. mjs93311 wrote: Are you in Bakersfield? I can't really recommend anyone because I would not have the RNY unless I was desparate. I have an adversion to the very thought of it, but I do know that I would chose RNY over obesity EVENTUALLY. Fortunately, I did not have to make that choice because I learned of the DS at the right moment in time. Marta > > Marta, > If you had to pick a RNY doctor around here who would you pick??? Guest guest
I'm not sure if it's me that you know or not. I'm not deaf but I am very heard of hearing, I'm losing my hearing. I had mine down up towards Fresno. Anyhow, thanks for the info. Let me know if you think we know each other. mjs93311 wrote: Oh, I used to know someone named Dani from Visalia, but I dont' think it was you. IT was years ago and I think she was deaf if I remember correctly. I might be mixing two people up, though. Well, you are close to BFL. They are doing the RNY at San Joaquin hospital, Dr. Irani. I don't know anyone personally who had it done here in town, though. I know he is a good surgeon, though.
