Guest guest
OK, so there were a few other things in the fridge besides yogurt and saurkraut, but not much. We pack the Uhaul today to move to Springfield, OR. Tom just finished his Master in Social Work degree (we drive up next weekend for the actual ceremony). Since I had recently *ahem* left my job (trying to be nice here) and Tom's was only on call, since he had to work around classes and internship, we decided it was a prime time to move. My mom is in Springfield and will be having some surgeries soon. She is also a little lonely. Tom has been in the Portland/Vancouver area for close to 20 years now and wanted a change (and to distance himself from his screwy relatives). So, off we go! I really like the area. Springfield is on the east side of I-5, while Eugene is on the west side. Eugene is a college town with the University of Oregon, a Christian college, a lesser university, and a jr college. It is very laid back and interesting. Much smaller than Portland area. I think I am going to like it. Tom is continuing in his home business. It goes okay, but has been on the back burner for nearly two months because he has been so busy preparing for his oral finals. Now that he is done with that he is looking for a social work position (he specializes in mental health) and will work his business part time. I am looking for part time work, at least for now. A few weeks ago I started a business called From the Ground Up. I found that while I was looking for work that friends kept referring me to people that needed help with cleaning and organization, mainly in businesses. Did you know that there are a lot of artist type people in Portland who have absolutely NO aptitude for organizing their business stuff and whose offices and studios are stys? Ick. So, I go in clean, organize, set up their paper filing and computer data systems, etc. Anyway, work started to roll in, so I got a business license. I have to go get another for Oregon now, since I have been working on a Washington one. I now have 3 other people that can work with/for me up here, while I expand down there. When it gets a little bigger I will incorporate. Until then, I need to either step up my self-promotion and get more business or get some part time work. I think that being new in a community will require me to work a regular job part time while I network and get known. The dishes are packed, but the microwave isn't. Hell, I think I will just go to Shari's for breakfast and get extra bacon. I had the option of going out with my husband and his mother for breakfast but she is my former employer and I am not ready to talk to her at this point (if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all, kind of deal). I need to go grab some grub and get moving! in WA (for one more day)
