However the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad can be used for more than just listening to music or playing games. They offer great possibilities as assistive technology devices. From sign language to memory aides, there are applications for almost every need. Participants will be assigned an iPod Touch to use during the workshop for a unique hands-on experience. The workshop is geared to beginners however there will be tips and tricks helpful to even the most advanced user. Introduction to the iPod Touch and iPad - We will cover how to choose a device, where to find great apps and other information to get you started. Gadgets and Gizmos - Learn about cool attachments that can make your device more accessible. From a device that allows you to operate remote control toys from your iPad to keyguards, we will show you the latest items you can attach or plug into your device for an enhanced experience. Getting Started - Each person will be given an iPod Touch to use during the workshop. We will start by going through both basic and hidden settings. You will learn how to get on the internet, set-up an e-mail account, change the restrictions, find hidden settings, and more. App Tour - We will take you on a hands-on tour of our favorite apps. We will explore apps in the areas of communication, memory aides / prompting, writing, reading, and much more. There will be a table brimming with the latest cases, stylus pens and other accessories for you to try out. There are only 20 slots for this workshop!!!!
