Guest guest
My child is on the spectrum and has both been diagnosed by a school psychologist and developmental pediatrician. He has also been diagnosed with ADHD. Recently, they have just cut off his services. I realize at the meeting I may of made a critical mistake by not doing the " stay put " . I had wrote that I did not agree with the decision. shortly thereafter, I notified them I was getting an outside evaluation. I took my son back to his developmental pediatrician and he made recommendations. He also said he had seen kids on the spectrum transition without proper support before and he said he had seen it too many times before and it doesn't turn out well for them. Even after the doctor made recommendations for my child to have a transition plan and have an iep still that could be revised after the first semester, I am told they will only meet for a non-iep because they have already cut off his services since the last meeting. He has also been diagnosed with autism by a school psychologist along with his developmental peduatrician's diagnosis. He is high functioning. What are my options? Guest guest
This is definitely a situation where the specifics of the child must be reviewed and considered by someone very familiar with the process. I would recommend you consult with an advocate or attorney who can give you very specific next steps. Like your doctor, I have seen many children “crash and burn” when services are removed either due to poor transition or not meeting the child’s continued need. Guest guest
Thank you... I got in touch with a contact number recommended by my son's developmental pediatrician. The lady on the phone was helpful and said she was shocked they would cut off his IEP with his dx's and she really felt there is hope in what can be done about this. > > This is definitely a situation where the specifics of the child must be > reviewed and considered by someone very familiar with the process.
