Guest guest
My son is high functioning on the autism spectrum, is also ADHD emphasis on the attention and has good cognitive and academic skills. He is 7, about to turn 8 and still in love with the Train. We have tried much of this year to get him to try new things but is his comfort zone. We are wondering if maybe regular sessions with an occupational therapist or speech therapist or psychologist might help. He has an IEP for social skills and we are seeing steady improvement there. The one area where we are not seeing improvement is not being able to let go of and a real rigidity when it comes to going new places or trying new things. Going to a new park or new movie gets him very upset. Once we get there he usually calms down but if its not somehow train related he will want to leave within a very short amount of time and he is incredibly persistent. Does anyone have any recommendations for therapists near Decatur that could help us work on this rigidity and transition issue? I want to include him in events and activities that we do as a family but its getting harder to get him out of his shell for any length of time. -- Lucy Brownlucywbrown@...
