Hi, Does anyone know or ever had or currently has social skills in their child’s IEP?I have a 13 yo AS/HFA son. Academically he is doing great but has no friends. Needs to learn social skills and practice in situations. He used to have lunch bunch but not now in 7th grade. I need help with social skills so he can function socially. Not to be the social butterfly but to at least know how to approach and talk to people and have one friend. I feel I am running out of time until I myself will not be able to help or facilitate this. All the academics in the world isn’t going to do him any good if he cannot approach and talk to people or interview for a job. We live in Cherokee county and I plan on having him in a summer camp for social skills but would like to do more and put something in place for 8th grade through school if possible before he goes to high school. I just don’t have access to other children in order to try to implement something. When he was younger I would have pool parties at the end of the school year for him, but now it is not easy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
