Guest guest
Over a year later, still true about the use of Restraint in Georgia: " One key safeguard is conspicuously absent from the proposed rule: There are no provisions for reporting incidents of restraint, beyond informing parents. " (http://bit.ly/ui77GD) What schools are promoting school safety by the use of de-escalation, mediation, and behavior supports with dignity? We would like to honor those schools and have them mentor and provide support to other schools that are struggling. What schools lay hands on students, and physically force students to be compliant with teacher commands? We would like to know to assist these schools to receive support, instruction and assistance with supporting all students. We would also immediately counsel and stand beside the student that experience restraint in the guise of education. We receive reports of restraint from parents and are working everyday to stop this dangerous practice. The practice is still largely invisible and it is possible that some districts or schools are collecting and analyzing this information. Have you seen school or district wide reports through your work or advocacy? Thank you, K.
