Welcome to the list, glad you made it. If you tried to join a few months ago, does that mean you've been doing BFL for a while?

What's Extreme Grappling?

Hello,

I just wanted to say that I am new here and I look forward to talking to you and reading your responses.

I tried to join a few months ago but couldn't because of technical difficulties but I finally made it :)

Anyway, I look forward to talking to everyone!

>>Welcome to the list, glad you made it. If you tried to join a few months ago, does that mean you've been doing BFL for a while?

Yes, it is very good program!! I started last summer while I had a break from college classes and it was amazing at all of the comments that I got. It was very satisfying.

I ended up going back to college, I work a full time job in MRI, I am married, and I also compete as a fighter so I was unable to give complete attention to the BFL. Although, I stayed with the program I missed workouts (due to time) and missed meals, etc. I have made some adjustments that I think will help me and get me back on track so I am going to make another fresh start.

Grappling is one style of fighting or mixed martial art that I do. We compete in various formats that include no holds barred, boxing, jiu jitsu, submission fighting, kickboxing, and many others.

It is basically chokes, joint locks, and things that you apply to your opponent to make him submit. A lot of fun!

>>Whoa, ya, sounds like lots of fun...except for your opponent!!!!! What format do you enjoy most? What are you best at?

Right now, I would say I am best at grappling or submission fighting. I had won the sectional golden gloves championship for a couple of years in a row but tore my rotator cuff and that's when I switched to grappling, etc.

Since about 1997 or 1998 that's what I have put most of my efforts into (especially since there is so much to learn). Submission fighting has been proven to be the most effective form of combat and martial art that is around so it's a lot of fun to do and teach.

So, what is non-extreme grappling? You only get to use one hand to choke your opponent? hahahaha (joke here at work: it's ok to choke your kids as long as you only use one hand, we call it "The one hand rule" Those with teenagers have a harder time with it)

Lol... That's pretty good...

It's just a name we tossing around when we coming up with a name for our group. We are actually called Bloody knucles www.bloodyknuckles.com

What did you and others notice after you started BFL? I can't imagine not already being lean with a fighting regimen like that and the training and fitness levels that must be involved to compete.

Well, it was really hard for me to notice a whole lot of difference but all of the girls and work were always touching me and feeling me :) I have never had that happen before so it was pretty nice :)

A lot of our patients also made comments too..

The problem is that I used to be a power lifter and played football, etc. So at one time I weighed close to 330lbs.

Once I started boxing I dropped to 240lbs and I am also 6'6". Now I am around 225lbs.

The BFL really helped me to develop my arms and that's what I received most of the comments on. It also got me working on my legs more.

Anyway, since I used to weigh so much it's not that I am fat but I am flabby or loose... I really need to gain a lot of muscle and size to make up for that. That's my big goal right now!

Thanks for all of the questions..!! i enjoy talking to some other people into workingout, etc

Hi y'all, I begin my new career as a middle school self contained autism classroom teacher tomorrow in Augusta, Ga. I am not new to autism - I have spectrum children of my own. I taught high school for 12 years, so I am not new to teaching. I am not familiar with Augusta and I am new to middle school, and middle autism. Specifically low functioning middle school autism. What can I do to make my new students feel comfortable in their new environment? Open house is Tuesday evening. How can I turn a large, very bright, very dull, very traditional classroom, and very bare classroom into an inviting, cozy autism room by Tuesday @ 5:30?

After I get the environment taken care of I will focus on what I should teach. What should I teach my new students? My main goal is to explore inclusion with these children and to teach them life skills. What else?

Thank you all for helping me!

Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I've been reading posts for a couple of weeks and I

decided to sign up for the class. I've yo-yo dieted forever and was down to my

lowest weight ever a couple years ago. I bought a whole new wardrobe and felt

great. I'm now back to my highest weight ever and have started all over once

again. I've skimmed the first 3 chapters of the book. Now to go back and do the

work.

If you see this post elsewhere, I think I put it in the wrong spot earlier.

Thanks!

Kim

my username my page comes up as well as blogs I've written. Considering my real

name is my username on here and for the class won't people be able to see what

we write in threads? Most of what I say here I'd like to keep private from my

outside life as well as my ex husband!

I believe that you have to be a member of the IOWL group to see any

past posts. But I'm just a moderator, so I'm not sure. Since I don't

care about people finding out what I say in various groups, I haven't

worried about it...

Thanks. I'm not sure who would bother to look anyway, but I figure the point of

this is to put some of our " stuff " out there. I'm pretty self conscious about

people knowing about some of my " stuff " . That sounds like an issue in itself!

Have a great day!
