Depression--A Medication Side Effect? If you feel depressed, ask your physician if any of your medications could be the culprit. Many medications are known to potentially cause depression symptoms in some people. These include, but are not limited to, some beta-blockers (such as atenolol, carvedilol, metoprolol, and propranolol), some seizure medications (such as phenytoin and primidone), and some anxiety medications (such as diazepam, alprazolam, and chlordiazepoxide).- M. If you have health concerns, or want to start an exercise program, please consult your health care provider before embarking on any activity or treatment.
