Guest guest
Risperdal can be very helpful to many in treating the symptoms. Not all children respond to biomedical interventions. Also, there tend to be comorbid conditions associated with ASD's, such as severe anxiety, depression, ADHD, etc. Parents should not be too quick to go the pharma route, but at the same time they should not be shamed and pressured by other parents to NOT investigate psychotropics. There are risks and benefits. Just my opinion, of course. Guest guest
Risperdal has been great for my son. It decreased his moodiness, anxiety, and irritability. It also helps him focus. I know there are a lot of other things we can try, but for now, this has been incredibly effective in helping my son survive especially in a less than ideal school situation. _____ From: Texas-Autism-Advocacy [mailto:Texas-Autism-Advocacy ] On Behalf Of Aliza Ratterree Sent: Saturday, October 07, 2006 8:35 AM To: Texas-Autism-Advocacy Subject: Re: FDA approves Autism drug Risperdal can be very helpful to many in treating the symptoms. Guest guest
Risperal is okay as long as the child does not have all the side effects that can be caused by the drug. Such as weight gain ( 11 lbs in one month for us) and seizures and of course he had several small and the last one lasted 20 minutes. Please read the side effects before you start any FDA approved drugs.. FDA approves Autism drug No comment from me.. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061007/ap_on_he_me/autism_drug;_ylt=AmsT0TfnwOANCIy\ Ijm2vUgas0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA3czJjNGZoBHNlYwM3NTE-
