Guest guest
So impressive -- great job ladies and all the people who worked to get the media out there. The black and white dress was an especially smart move since it distinguished us from the few folks who showed up to protest other things. As I was driving out of the parking garage when we left around noon, I got a view of the whole group and it looked so dignified. We were so proud to participate in such a dignified expression of citizenship. The Associated Press did have a reporter there so those outside of the DFW area should watch your papers in case some of them pick up the story. He took a photo of my son and asked for his name so if any of you out of towners see a photo of Curtis Tharp holding a " Let the House Speak " sign, I'd love a copy. Just one note for future demonstrations -- watch where you place our autistic kids who love to repeat clever slogans. We started in the center but with the sign shuffle, my son ended up at the end of the group next to where the loud crazy folks were. No big deal at the time but I got to hear him laughing and repeating " Sam the Sham " and " Dennis the Menance " all the way home. Fortunately, he only joined in the loud folk's chanting a few times during the demonstration and didn't pick up any of the even less-tasteful things they were shouting. Now, if I can just figure out how to teach which type of social behavior you should copy and which you shouldn't... Gaylen
Guest guest
I am about to collapsse but several press people confirmed it - we topped 200!!! pkhmstew wrote: A huge thank you to Mara and Kristi and all the parents that worked so hard on the silent demonstration today. When I left at 12:30 they were still talking with the media - they interviewed lots of parents. They all did a great job on their press statement at 11:00. Hopefully we'll see it on the news later - nothing on the internet yet that I can find. It was all very dignified (well there were some 'others' not there for autism but their own political agenda who were screaming at the luncheon attendees walking by). I don't know what the final headcount was - maybe 60 people? Hopefully Mara and Kristi will post a recap before they collapse into sleep Kim

Guest guest
Gaylen, I've been identified as your son's mother in today's Dallas Morning News. Check out his picture! He did such a great job and asked very important questions as well. Thanks for bringing him and participating. > > So impressive -- great job ladies and all the people who worked to get the > media out there.
