Guest guest
Hi All, I am going to give my 7yo son both Valtrex & Diflucan, I would like to know the followings : (1) Do I have to start Diflucan first for few days before I give Valtrex. (2) How to find the right ratio of antiviral administration to antifungal administration. Hope you can share your exprience. (3) if my son has very high fever during antiviral therapy, do I have to stop antiviral & antifungal immediately or should I continue & give him medication to bring his fever down. Can I give antibiotics if he has high fever & I choose to proceed the antiviral. Hope to get some advice. Thanks in advance for your help. Hope you can share your exprience. > You should consult your Rxing dr. about this. Normal dose for young kids is between 500-1000 mg of Valtrex (again, depends on doc) and Diflucan varies (my son is on 75mg). When my son was taking Valtrex he was on 750 mg. > > > (3) if my son has very high fever during antiviral therapy, do I have > to stop antiviral & antifungal immediately or should I continue & give > him medication to bring his fever down. You can also give abx while on it. My son has been on abx almost the entire time. cheryl > > > Hope to get some advice. Hi Donna, Someone ask me to give Valtrex at 3x per day at 500 mg each time. i.e 1500 mg per day. I am going to start on small dose first. > > > Hi All, > > > > I am going to give my 7yo son both Valtrex & Diflucan, I would like to > > know the followings : > > > > (1) Do I have to start Diflucan first for few days before I give > > Valtrex. > > > > No, but some choose to. Guest guest
If you are going up to 1500 mg I would start with 1000 mg for the first week and up to 1500 the second. I think 1500 mg for a 7yo is okay but again, I'm not a doctor. It sounds reasonable to me. I also need to apologize as I mistyped in a previous post when I said my mom was on 3000 mg. She is on 3000 *grams*.CherylHi Cheryl, Thanks a lot for your help. Hi Donna, Someone ask me to give Valtrex at 3x per day at 500 mg each time. i.e 1500 mg per day.
