Guest guest
There can be many reasons for this--was she term? Did the mother have gestational diabetes? How was her birth weight? Was the cord around her neck or was there any lack of oxygen at birth?Maurine Meleck wrote: My niece just born 2 days ago had low blood sugar at birth and still does. Guest guest
Make sure they're testing properly. My son was required to be tested after every feeding and never tested in the range they wanted. Long story short, the nurses weren't waiting long enough for the alcohol to evaporate and this was skewing his results. Guest guest
My NT daughter was born (8lb) with very low blood sugar -- 19. I hadn't been able to eat for over 24 hours plus had nausea during labor, so I think that was what happened to her. I didn't have gest diabetes but was very close. She was fine after a day -- although I wasn't too keen with the sugar water they wanted to give her. She was given formula that first day but was breastfed after that. Guest guest
My daughter had low blood sugar too. They gave her formula in the hospital and told me I had to suppliment her because I wasn't producing enough collustrum (I know now it was due to the ssri I was taking....that they tell you is fine during preg and nursing...and isn't if you are trying to breastfeed because it inhibits the let down.) Guest guest
I had the same problem with my son. He was a big baby and I had no probIem with diabetes. They gave me formula but I cheated and did only breastfeeding. I stabilized after 3 days. We were super anxious of course. Sometimes we’ve been wondering if it would have indicated something about our son’s current issues (ASD). All I can say is that he had gut trouble from the start and suffered constipation since birth (until biomed protocol). Senta My NT daughter was born (8lb) with very low blood sugar -- 19.
