Guest guest
For us, if zinc didn't help we usually ran a stool test for bacteria. Whenever my son had high bacteria he would eat dirt, tissues, paper, lick walls and all sorts of odd stuff. Kerrie > Hi all,> I have a question about Pica. My daughter just turned 8 and she has been putting non food items like soap and clothes in her mouth for few years now, my question is has any parent seen this behaviour in their kids because i dont know how to make her stop mouthing non food items for good. I haven't tested my daughter if she is deficient in any vitamin or mineral for her to mouth non edible stuff. My daughter is on GF/CF diet and her pica has been m some times more and some times almost not there .I would appreciate any advice from parents of might have helped their kids with Pica problem. Thank you in advance.> Uma Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year.

Although I have read low pantothenic (B5), low calcium, low iron. I think my grandson has a problem with absorbtion. Guest guest
My son had very bad pica. We tried upping his zinc and magnesium to very high levels to no avail. What we finally attributed the PICA to was using Methyl B12. Thru Yasko genetic testing we discovered our son could not handle methyl donors and Methyl b12 caused his PICA. We switched to hydroxy b12 and the PICA stopped immediately. We could not give him the hydroxy b12 shots as they sting (the methyl b12 shots we had no trouble with stinging). We use the hydroxy b12 nasal spray and all is well. No more PICA! --- mkundeti@... wrote: > Hi all, > I have a question about Pica. Guest guest
, Did she suggest a mechanism to explain why the methyl donor would lead to pica? This is very interesting. Did you change anything else at the same time? O. At 10:20 PM 1/21/2008, you wrote: >My son had very bad pica. We tried upping his zinc and >magnesium to very high levels to no avail. Guest guest
SCD improves mineral absorbtion, so it usually eliminates PICA pretty fast. chocolatiluv wrote: > > Hi all, > I have a question about Pica. Guest guest
, where did you get the hydroxy b12 nasal spray? We recently tried methyl b12 shots and my son started mouthing and stimming obsessively. We stopped the shots a week ago and upped his zinc. Now, he's back to his " normal " amount of stimming and occasionally mouthing select items. But on the shots, he was actually eating plants, paper, all kinds of stuff to the extent he lost all interest in his favorite activities. I would like to try the hydroxy b12. Do the hydroxy shots always sting? Thx! Carla > > > Hi all, > > I have a question about Pica. Guest guest
>Hi all, Thank you, Carole and all the parents for your input on Pica. I will looking into adding Calcium,Iron if she is deficient in it and upping Zinc to see if it will help her. Hope she overcomes PICA soon because it is becoming a problem at school for them to always have to watch her when she puts stuff in mouth. Thanks again, Uma >Date: 2008/01/21 Mon PM 07:12:54 CST >To: mb12 valtrex >Subject: Re: Pica help > > >> >> Hi all, >> I have a question about Pica.
