WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU THERE!

Your Presenters:

Gilmore

Gilmore of Autism United and A-CHAMP will present strategies for advocacy

that will

advance the interests of individuals with autism spectrum disorders. will

discuss

techniques to empower parents to affect the legislative process. He will focus

on how his

approach has worked in New York State. will include a review of current

legislation

and legislative efforts over the last two years. We will be excited to hear

's update on

A-CHAMP's Presidential Candidate Questionnaire that was recently sent out to all

the

Republican and Democratic candidates.

Gilmore is the father of a seven-year old boy diagnosed with autism. He is

a

founding board member of A-CHAMP and is Executive Director of Autism United. A-

CHAMP mobilizes the autism community to participate effectively in the political

process

by introducing and passing legislation, and stopping undesirable bills at the

federal, state,

and local levels. Autism United is an alliance of families and individuals

affected by autism

spectrum disorders working with professionals and organizations who serve the

autism

community. Gilmore organized the introduction and passage in 2005 of New

York

state's legislation controlling the use of mercury in vaccines for children

under the age of

three and pregnant women. In 2006, Gilmore assembled a coalition of autism

related

organizations in New York to pass legislation prohibiting discrimination by

health insurers

against people with autism.

A-CHAMP is a national, non-partisan political action organization formed by

parents in

support of children with neurodevelopment and communication disorders. They are

dedicated to advancing public policy issues affecting our children, protecting

their human

and civil rights, educating the public and media, supporting candidates sharing

our goals

in state and federal elections, and holding accountable those in government who

do not

act in the best interest of our children.

Autism United's effort begins with families working together to build community

support,

services and resources. Autism United will forge their collective strength to

improve the

welfare of individuals and families affected by ASD. Autism United supports

professionals

who pursue treatment-based research that can help improve the quality of life

for people

affected by ASD, find the causes of the autism epidemic, and ultimately recover

people

affected by ASD.

Lori Mershon

LORI MERSHON is a clinical nutritionist, practicing Nutrition Response Testing

at the

Natural Health Improvement Center in Glens Falls, NY. Lori has an extensive

background

in numerous fields of health and wellness. She is a certified personal fitness

trainer,

dietary consultant, massage therapist, substance abuse counselor as well as an

inspirational writer and artist.

She has studied under the guidance and direction of Dr. Lester Bryman and Dr.

Freddie

Ulan. In March of 2007 she graduated from the Advanced Clinical training

program.

She is dedicated to the field of nutrition and works with the premise that when

given the

opportunity to receive the exact right nutrition the body does an amazing job of

overcoming any challenge.

Locally several families with children on the spectrum have found this safe and

natural

approach extremely beneficial.

Stan Kurtz

Stan Kurtz's moving multimedia presentation documents his son Ethan's recovery

from

autism, and Stan's recovery from IBS and ADHD. Stan is the Owner and Executive

Director

of The Children's Corner School. This seminar will include Stan's unique

approach that

has transformed the way educators and families think about schooling for the

individual

child.

Stan Kurtz is a teacher, educator, and health researcher who acquired The

Children's

Corner School and transformed it into one of the most individualized schools in

the

country. The Children's Corner employs a combination of traditional education

with a

unique whole-family approach to sound, healthful nutrition and environmental

awareness.

Stan received his teaching certificate at the University of California at Los

Angelos (UCLA)

and resides in Tarzana with his family.

Stan developed and invented MB12 Nasal Spray, which has helped thousands of

families

and individuals suffering from ADHD, autism, chronic fatigue, and many other

chronic

illnesses. Stan has given the design of the spray away for public use and has

chosen not to

profit from any family in need. A formal study of MB12 nasal spray on

individuals with

ADHD is now being conducted jointly with researchers at the University of

California at Los

Angeles (UCLA).

Stan is a funded researcher and adviser of the Autism Research Institute. He is

a presenter
