Guest guest
Hi All! My husband and I are having one heck of a time giving our son his Valtrex. We have tried mixing it into his drinks. He won't drink them. We have tried crushing the pills and mixing them into frosting. No luck. We had it compounded into a liquid at our pharmacy and then put it into his drinks - he won't drink what we offer him. We tried a syringe. No luck with that - he spit it out. We finally resorted to a pill shooter. We were successful a couple of times, but now our son has figured out how to curl his tongue and spit the pill out and/or crunch the pill into pieces thereby destroying the pill itself and three pill shooters in the process. A couple of questions: First, is there a technique to using the pill shooter that my husband and I have not perfected yet? Have any of you learned how to give a pill to a dog or cat? I know that sounds funny, but we are at a loss. Maybe we need to visit our vet for instructions on how to give a pill. My other question is if anyone has had Valtrex compounded into a transdermal and still had good results? How about and injection or suppositories? Do these things even exist? HELP, HELP, HELP!!!!!!!
