RE: Two Day Advocacy, Education and Biomedical Seminar

Project LINK is pleased to announce this exciting event for families

and educators of the Capital Region.

On January 25th and 26th at the Malta Town Hall three specialists

from varying backgrounds will join us to present ideas for advocacy,

education, nutrition and biomedical approaches that have helped many

children on the autism spectrum.

First on January 25, 2008 from 9:00am till 11:30am Mr. Gilmore

of Autism United and A-CHAMP will share strategies for advocacy that

will advance the interests of individuals with ASD.

Second on January 25, 2008 from 12:30pm till 2:00pm Ms. Lori Mershon

from the Natural Health Improvement Center will share information on

Nutritional Response Testing and how it can assist in improving the

body to heal itself naturally and efficiently.

Third on January 26, 2008 from 9:00am till 3:00pm Mr. Stan Kurtz

owner and director of The Children’s Corner School in California,

inventor of MB12 Nasal Spray, funded researcher and adviser of the

Autism Research Institute will share his own unique approach to

complete education, nutrition and environmental awareness that has

helped recover his son and himself.

For each of these presentations there will be specific question and

answer periods as Project LINK has requested these presenters hear

our concerns and share their knowledge with us.

Gilmore

Gilmore of Autism United and A-CHAMP will present strategies

for advocacy that will advance the interests of individuals with

autism spectrum disorders. will discuss techniques to empower

parents to affect the legislative process. He will focus on how his

approach has worked in New York State. will include a review

of current legislation and legislative efforts over the last two

years. We will be excited to hear 's update on A-CHAMP's

Presidential Candidate Questionnaire that was recently sent out to

all the Republican and Democratic candidates.

Gilmore is the father of a seven-year old boy diagnosed with

autism. He is a founding board member of A-CHAMP and is Executive

Director of Autism United. A-CHAMP mobilizes the autism community to

participate effectively in the political process by introducing and

passing legislation, and stopping undesirable bills at the federal,

state, and local levels. Autism United is an alliance of families

and individuals affected by autism spectrum disorders working with

professionals and organizations who serve the autism community.

Gilmore organized the introduction and passage in 2005 of New York

state's legislation controlling the use of mercury in vaccines for

children under the age of three and pregnant women. In 2006,

Gilmore assembled a coalition of autism related organizations in New

York to pass legislation prohibiting discrimination by health

insurers against people with autism.

A-CHAMP is a national, non-partisan political action organization

formed by parents in support of children with neurodevelopment and

communication disorders. They are dedicated to advancing public

policy issues affecting our children, protecting their human and

civil rights, educating the public and media, supporting candidates

sharing our goals in state and federal elections, and holding

accountable those in government who do not act in the best interest

of our children.

Autism United's effort begins with families working together to

build community support, services and resources. Autism United will

forge their collective strength to improve the welfare of

individuals and families affected by ASD. Autism United supports

professionals who pursue treatment-based research that can help

improve the quality of life for people affected by ASD, find the

causes of the autism epidemic, and ultimately recover people

affected by ASD.

Lori Mershon

LORI MERSHON is a clinical nutritionist, practicing Nutrition

Response Testing at the Natural Health Improvement Center in Glens

Falls, NY. Lori has an extensive background in numerous fields of

health and wellness. She is a certified personal fitness trainer,

dietary consultant, massage therapist, substance abuse counselor as

well as an inspirational writer and artist.

She has studied under the guidance and direction of Dr. Lester

Bryman and Dr. Freddie Ulan. In March of 2007 she graduated from

the Advanced Clinical training program.

She is dedicated to the field of nutrition and works with the

premise that when given the opportunity to receive the exact right

nutrition the body does an amazing job of overcoming any challenge.

Locally several families with children on the spectrum have found

this safe and natural approach extremely beneficial.

Stan Kurtz

Stan Kurtz's moving multimedia presentation documents his son

Ethan's recovery from autism, and Stan's recovery from IBS and

ADHD. Stan is the Owner and Executive Director of The Children's

Corner School. This seminar will include Stan's unique approach

that has transformed the way educators and families think about

schooling for the individual child.

Stan Kurtz is a teacher, educator, and health researcher who

acquired The Children's Corner School and transformed it into one of

the most individualized schools in the country. The Children's

Corner employs a combination of traditional education with a unique

whole-family approach to sound, healthful nutrition and

environmental awareness. Stan received his teaching certificate at

the University of California at Los Angelos (UCLA) and resides in

Tarzana with his family.

Stan developed and invented MB12 Nasal Spray, which has helped

thousands of families and individuals suffering from ADHD, autism,

chronic fatigue, and many other chronic illnesses. Stan has given

the design of the spray away for public use and has chosen not to

profit from any family in need. A formal study of MB12 nasal spray

on individuals with ADHD is now being conducted jointly with

researchers at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).

Stan is a funded researcher and adviser of the Autism Research

Institute. He is a presenter and participant in the DAN! Think

Tank, and he is also on the Science and Advisory Board of the US

Autism and Asperger Association. Stan is Co-Chairman of Hand in

Hand Child and Family Developmental Center. Hand in Hand is a

provider of speech, OT, PT, and Behavioral therapies. Stan is also

the moderator for the internet autism yahoo group MB12valtrex which

has 1,500 members. He is a member of the Research Review Board for

the Center for Autism and Related Disorders and the producer of

research and recovery videos which can be viewed at

www.recoveryvideos.com.
