Nutraceuticals / Natural Combination Supplements for ADD Posted by: " Debbie Vasquez " devasquez@... dylanvasquez Date: Mon Oct 2, 2006 9:36 am (PDT) " Great questions - I am very interested in hearing the responses, as well......My son has been seeing Dr. Rao, DAN doctor in Carrollton for a while now, and has been on a number of bio-medical supplements, chelation, etc.......Not sure we are seeing any differences - anyone having success with this??...Thanks Debbie Vasquez " Debbie, We have been seeing Dr. Rao since March of this year. Last December, my now 4 year old son only could express 2-3 word sentences, flapped, lined things up and was generally hyperactive. We took him off diary on 1/1/06 and he immediately began to speak in full sentences. We started the protocol with Rao 4/1/06 and now my son: (1) is fully potty trained; (2) can ride a bike; (3) has conversations on topic with 4-5 conversational turns; (4) does not line things up anymore and generally has no physical stimming. The one symptom that remains with our son is echolalia and random, unpredictable aggression towards other kids in the gym setting (kind of like an unruly 4 year old boy). He talks a lot about random stuff. So, although he is friendly towards other kids and wants to play with them, the other kids are usually clueless as to what they are talking about. Rao credits most of his progress to Tomatis used in conjunction with the DAN protocol. We did Tomatis first loop in July and second loop in September at the Listening Center in Dallas. We also saw Dr. in Austin and started a Valtrex/amantidine/cortef cocktail for a 6 month trial period 8/1/06. We also are in the middle of DMSA transdermal, in addition to heavy speech therapy and SCERTs at Callier, along with sensory integration therapy twice a week, swimming and a sports skills class. It sounds like a lot, but our son craves the activity and structure and I am absolutely determined to get him as much on the outer skirts of the spectrum as possible by the time he hits 1st grade.
