Guest guest
Hi Dave, You indicated that people are exposed to an electromagnetic field and RF while driving. Since I have a TriField meter I thought it would be interesting to check this out. My tests indicate the opposite. What type of meter did you use to verify this? A well built EMEM will have a much stronger electromagnetic field, E-field (and RF field if using a spark plug) than you can expect to be exposed to while driving a car. I made the following tests on an 88 T-Bird with a V6 engine. HERE ARE THE RESULTS OF MY TESTING With the engine running (both at idle and high RPM) I tested the following with a TriField meter held against my chest. Electromagnetic range: Zero Electric range (E-field): Zero Radio/Microwave range (RF up to 2GHz): Zero METER HELD AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL (to simulate sitting closer to the engine, such as in a smaller car) Electromagnetic range: 1 mG (thousandth of one Gauss - extremely low) Electric range (E-field): Zero Radio/Microwave range: Zero WITH THE METER HELD OVER THE ENGINE (hood open) Electromagnetic range: 100+ mG (1/10 of one Gauss) Electric range (E-field): 100+ (very strong) Radio/Microwave range: Zero Placing the meter against the outside of the fenders all of this was blocked. Same with meter above the closed hood. This car has regular spark plug wires running on top of the engine. As found in all modern cars they are designed to suppress RF. Obviously the steel firewall blocks most of this energy, not to mention you aren't sitting very close to the the engine. I suggest that some of you guys (who have a TriField meter) make the same test. I'd be very surprised if your results are much different (but who knows?). Easy enough to do.
