Guest guest
Hello....My son is 3 and will be 4 the end of March. He never really " regressed " just slower to develop. He has a large vocabulary, but also tends to " memorize " sentences and his comprehension of things is lacking. I only realized something was wrong about 4 months ago when I started researching the noises he makes and the fact that he will wiggle his fingers, etc. His stimming definitely " peaked " in the past few months. I have seen big improvements since going GFCF. He was potty trained in a matter of days and tantrums are almost a thing of the past. We can finally go to the store now without being nervous! However, his stimming is definitely still there, along with a strong craving for sweets all the time. The developmental pediatrician did not feel comfortable diagnosing him with autism because he was social with him, good eye contact, hugged him, etc. However, a mom just knows when something is wrong. So, I took him to a DAN who did the Organic Acid Test. The normal reference range for arabanose yeast (candida) is 0-45. My son's number was 1,380!!! I really want to knock this yeast out in the hopes of even more improvement. However, our DAN is in chiropractory, so he can't prescribe anything except for supplements. I know nystatin, diflucan and nizoral are all used...some having more side effects than others. I have an appt. with my son's pediatrician to try and convince her to help us on this journey. I am looking for advice on which drug is the most effective given my son's high numbers. She will take some convincing and I'm also afraid she won't know what dose/how long to give it to him since alot of this is " foreign " to regular doctors. Any advice on what I should ask for, how long to give and how to convince her there is a problem? I am bringing the test results, along with a statement from my DAN. Any help would be appreciated. Our appt. is just a few days away. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!
