Guest guest
Jag, there have been several reports of steroid hormones trashed after statins. I took niaspan and it happened to me with no recovery. All our steroid and adrenal hormones are made from cholesterol. Steroid hormone Cascade: Simply follow the lines from Cholesterol at the top to learn the sequence in which hormones are made from cholesterol.http://www.cushings-help.com/downloads/steroid01.02.07.pdf This should give everyone a good visual image of how cholesterol is used by the body to make hormones. Its obvious to me why so many men complain about the onset of sexual dysfunction after initiating statin "therapy".If ya want to improve sales of viagra, put 'em on a statin first. Guest guest
There is clinical evidence of the link between statin therapy and low male testosterone levels. Apparently, these levels should decrease no more than 5% per year commencing at around age 50. However, statins cause a much more precipitous decline in those over 50. My free testosterone levels dropped to non-existent, resulting in severe depression as well as physical and mental exhaustion. I now use hormone replacements to have a normal life.Dave.
