>>>>I was watching 's new daytime talk show this morning and at the end of the show he had Joy Behar, from the View,

on the show. She is apparently a spokeman for Bayer Low Dose aspirin and Women's heart disease. She said that heart disease kills more women than breast cancer.<<<<Yes, they never tell you that the " protection " aspirin gives from heart attack is about as well proven as the " protection " Lipitor gives or even less well proven and also there is a danger of a brain bleed with aspirin... Bayer Company admits 1 in 5000 - gets a brain bleed and 1 in 1000 gets a severe gastro intestinal bleed (they said this on a C.M.E. I watched) but there are no warnings on the bottle and when aspirin is prescribed, the medical providers do not warn you either.  Even IF it's only one in 5000 for the brain bleed, there is only a 20 percent survival from that type of brain bleed.  I suspect it's a higher percentage than 1 in 5000 because the pharmaceuticals always underestimate that sort of thing.

My husband GOT a brain bleed from low dose aspirin - he was one of the lucky ones who came home (the others in the neural ICU went to the morgue) but it ruined his health and actually paved the way for his ischemic stroke in 2010, 2 years later.  I am not happy that the friggin' medical provider's so called " protection " was so off base and of course you know he also got extremely ill from the statin drugs they gave him " to protect him " . What baloney sausage we are being fed about this.

If Regis Philbin or another celebrity under " aspirin therapy " gets a brain bleed, maybe IF he/she is in the 20 percent who survive, he/she will have to bucks to sue the heck out of the Bayer company for false information - that's what it might take to bring them to their senses and also, alert the public. Sorry but I am still angry about what so called " preventive " medicine has done to my husband... ruined his health, ended his career that he worked so hard for... not fair that the pharmaceutical goes on doing that to people. :(

Hi Sue,

I started a thread called " my latest labs, doc still pushing statins, " in

message #9901 you can see some of what I was going through. If you read through

the latter posts, especially in #9959 you can also see what my mom's quality of

life is after more than 15 years on Lipitor, simvastatin, and now Crestor.

When she was having some major cognitive problems, slurring her words while we

were at lunch, I made her go to the doctor. I told him she was very confused

and since she takes many medications she might take too many, I thought maybe

she had a stroke.

He said she should have an MRI of her brain. At the followup visit, he said

there was no evidence of a RECENT stroke, so I assume there was evidence of

prior ones.

How could you tell your husband had a brain bleed? Is that different than a

stroke? When someone is having a brain bleed, is there something going on that

your can see, such as a change in behavior, or is there pain, like a severe

headache? Or is the only proof an imaging scan of some type?

Mom does also take the low dose aspirin, all of these drugs were prescribed by

her primary doctor, except the coreg was prescribed by her cardiologist who

diagnosed heart failure.

She had failed an EKG prior to a surgery. I told her the reason she probably

has heart failure is from the statins, they damage muscles. She told this to

the cardiologist, what I said, and he said it's a different kind of muscle. I

said of course that's what he would say. He wants you to take the statins and

the coreg and the BP meds and the aspirin. She keeps thinking that she needs

more surgeries because she is in pain.

Thank you for sharing your experiences of what you and your husband have gone

through. I learn things from everyone's contributions here.

Connie

Sue,

I forgot to ask something. I read the article on aspirin, but what is an AF

patient? I don't know what AF stands for.

Thanks
