It will be interestin g to see if the benefits extend to humans.Dave. http://health.msn.com/health-topics/alzheimers-disease/in-mice-cancer-drug-shows-effect-on-alzheimers-symptoms Watch for the information about cholesterol-related biochemicals and the body's defense against alzheimers--hope somebody follows up with research on a possible link between lowering cholestrol and alzheimers. In this group, we've seen anecdotal evidence... Linden
Guest guest
Standig in line at a market this evening, I noticed a Prevention Mag listing an article on things that are good for the heart. Wanting to see where they went with iit, I thumbed through it quickly and of course, the first thing mentioned was our old friend the statin drugs. They said that the commonest side effect, of course, was rhabdom...(whatever) but that there are occasional reports of milder muscle pain, than can be mitigated by changing drug or dosage. Remembering my own muscle pain and disability, I would NOT call it " mild " , and I am intending to write them and politely mention that severe pain & severe restriction of movement were probably not reported by my dr but that I had reported it wherever I could. (I am also needing to train a new primary dr, as my longtime guy has just retired, and their new recommdation is nagging about the four years since I've had any tests.) I am thinking that it might be interesting if a bunch of us wrote Prevention and recommended that if they are really interesting in usefol health information they should do some independent research on the whole statin/cholesterol subject, recognizing that this is seriously politically incorrect. See how brave they are! Speaking of political correctness, one thing that scares me about the supposed improvement in health care (?) is the possibility that our ability to disagree with our doctors could be in jeapoardy. What does anybody else think about that? Linden
