Guest guest
Mike, that news story went viral in the media. As soon as I saw the news story about eating red meat and shorter lifespans, my curiosity was high. I checked some data that suggested the story might not bear much truth. What I did is pull up the Harvard longevity map of the USA. It was clear to see the shorter lifespans were in the southeastern USA. and the longer lifespans were in the midwest/plains states.Next I went to the USDA website to find who consumes the most beef in the USA. The USDA point blank states the "highest beef consumption in the US in in the Midwest." That's where longevity is higher according to Harvard. From a geographic standpoint, I don't see evidence of the claims in the news. If anything my findings suggest the exact opposite. I'm NOT taking sides on the beef issue for or against. Just looking at it from a neutral ground. Guest guest
One of the worst parts of these broad proclamations is the they distort  reality and create a new awareness that is not true or accurate, and don’t present any information about widely available alternatives, i.e. grass fed beef.If I was a large beef producer that lost income due to this study, I do believe that there would be some big bucks spent preparing the law suit to get a full retraction.Mike S.
