Guest guest
I have always maintained that adults get RSV too. No other virus checks id's at the nostril and says 'Oops, sorry, too old'. I get a few positive RSV's every year in adults. Usually I'll check adults who have been around kids with what sounds like RSV, teachers and daycare workers. I also tell families that if there is one positive RSV, then everyone in the family, including adults, will get it although in differing severities. -- Lynette I Iles MD 214 South Iowa Ste 3 Washington IA 52353 Flexible Family Care'Modern medicine the old-fashioned way' This e-mail and attachments may contain information which is confidential and is only for the named addressee. Guest guest
Of course they do, mostly presents as laryngotracheobronchitis. We just had an epidemic here for that last 2 weeks. Last year the CDC was here due to our annual pertussis epidemic and we did scads of nasal washes and found, lots of RSV, pertusis, parapertusis, paraflu, mycoplasma and influenza. These are mostly distinguishable by history and presentation, but not always. If its in the neighborhood, hitting the kids, it is usually the agent. ________________________________ From: on behalf of Lynette Iles Sent: Sat 1/12/2008 10:19 AM To: Subject: Re: RSV in Adults I have always maintained that adults get RSV too.
