Guest guest
I'm not having such good luck with friends right now either. Actually, it is more like I don't have friends right now. I am not working right now, that was usually the only socializing that I did. I know that I need to be working, but there seems to be something that is keeping me from just doing it. I only have one friend here in Florida. My b/f is my best friend and my sister and I used to do things for fun. Now I don't do anything really. It seems like as I get older I don't have as many friends, maybe I don't make them as easily as I used to. It is also hard because everyone that I know around my age is either doing the mommy/wife thing or the partying thing. Neither one of those appeal to me right now. Sometimes I think about taking a class or something. Right now I am going through some depression or something obviously. Hopefully I'll snap out of it soon. Guest guest
We homeschooled and we made a point of inviting kids over, regularly, so our son could make friends. He was involved in some sports, and 2 homschool groups, so I would ask him who he'd like to have over for the day. It helped them get to know each other better and form a stronger bond that way. So the play dates, you suggested, sound like a good idea. He also had friends in the neighborhood. If any of the girls live nearby, that's a great option because they would get to see each other out of the school setting, easily. If there is anything she has a special interest in, that is a good place to make friends too. Then they share an interest. For our son that was easy because all boys bond over computers and video games. If you can find a link like that with some of the other girls, it will be helpful. BJ > > Any suggestions on helping my dd make more friends? She is 10 and entering 4th grade. She knows a few girls in her class, but is not good friends with anyone in her class. She is going to need help making friends or getting to be better friends with the girls she knows in her class. I told her I will help her (she is very upset about this). I told her we will plan some playdates, but not sure what else *I* can do. We have practiced going up to kids that seem to have no one to play with at the moment, but that is difficult for her - but I had her doing it at the playground last week. Her worries are not having anyone on her bus that is in her class - so no one to walk from bus to class with, not having anyone to play on the playground with, not having anyone to sit by at lunch, not having anyone to be partners with in class with they do partners (major flashbacks to myself in school! exact came worries, big time!). Any suggestions on > helping form friendships? > Thanks > Sharon > > >
