Guest guest
I have a “Block Junk Fax” button on my HP printer/fax/copier and these get blocked. As well as those promising a huge increase in size of …. Whatever. dg Multiplan - Pay you less quicker Anyone get those faxes from insurances that say....agree to this deeply discounted rate on your charges and we'll pay you in 10-days or less! I've been getting them from Multiplan recently. It is kind of interesting how your mind kind of warps around the words -- gee, if I sign this, they will pay me the money I'm owed and I won't have to wait and wait. But then one pops out of the fog and realizes the insurance company is asking the doctor to pay the insurance company (via the discount) to pay the doctor on time. Here, kind sir, please take this $20 bill so that you will pay me more quickly the $80 of the $100 you owe me. Something smells in Denmark. What do most of you do with those? Just pitch them? Write nasty notes on them and fax them back? Just curious. Guest guest
Most ot these, that I get, are not insurance companies, in actuallity. They sign up patients with the idea of negociating a discount off their bills. Seems dishonest on the face of it, unsuspecting patients think they are actually buying insurance. ________________________________ From: on behalf of Locke's in Colorado Sent: Mon 1/14/2008 10:46 PM To: Locke's in Colorado Subject: Multiplan - Pay you less quicker Anyone get those faxes from insurances that say....agree to this deeply discounted rate on your charges and we'll pay you in 10-days or less! Guest guest
In my opinion, be very leary of Multiplan and Magna Care and some others. Several reasons: -I'm sure they have multiple products, but in our experience they are usually just a third party administrator that offers to the self insured union or business a panel of participating doctors that their members / employees can see at a very discounted rate. Fee schedules will differ based on who is the real insurance provider. Reimbursement is usually at around 50% to 66% of prevailing Medicare rates. -if there is a problem with slow payment, they will often just refer you to the union or self insured business -they down code routinely and assume the doctor will not have the energy to appeal. Enough said? Mike Safran More new features than ever. Check out the new AOL Mail!
Guest guest
Dear Dr Locke, When I get really degrading requests like this, which show the truely bad side of the the developing health care crisis, I fight back politely. I tell the insurance company I am sending their request to my senator, so that he can get a good look at their behavior, and tell them I am sending along with it a document from my billing system that shows just how late they pay. I note they are surely driven to these straits by the condition of the market in which they play, but that I feel this should be open knowledge and not a private agreement. I don't get a lot of answers back from these companies, but I certainly never get degrading requests from them again. Generally, I don't accept nasty insurance groups. It is too hard on my blood pressure. Joanne, the Old MD in Drain, Oregon.
