This can only happen in a “personalized” style

office setting.

I had a 60ish gentleman with fever, chills, cough for 4-5

days. As he was filling out his IMH survey he got very lightheaded.

I was still at the hospital at the time so my staff had him lie down in the

exam room. His BP was low, especially for a hypertensive, but no

hypoxia. Deep breathing and coughing made him lightheaded again.

So I gave him a nebulizer as he has chronic bronchitis, is a

smoker and had reduced air flow and we fed him tomato soup and big glass of

water as he has not been eating or drinking much, to get his BP up.

His BP went from 96/58 to 114/72, he felt better, better air

movement so I could now hear the bilateral pneumonia and he went home on a more

traditional treatment of ABT and Albuterol feeling a little better.

Is there a code for tomato soup? Maybe a Misc supplies

thing? ;-) Good thing it wasn’t summer as we generally don’t

have soups around then although probably could have dug up some crackers.

This is just an example of problem solving, and a different kind of fluid

challenge for the non-urgicare small office.

if he was there for an extended time and you observed him, and also if you had to delay seeing another patient to attend to the patient in question, whose needs were more urgent, you may be able to add other codes.you did code for the nebulizer treatment and supplies, of course.i'm sure there's another code for the administration of miscellaneous care; i've just remarked that most cpt codes are five digit, JUST LIKE ZIP CODES!pick one.of course, most of the cpt codes we use are in the western united states.for example, you could code a 98354 as a "milton", in washington state.with far too much time on my hands.LOLLL wrote: I do not believe there is a code for tomato soup Only chicken. try extneded time 99254 i think it is You might even get paid.
