Subject: Who I am. My first post.

First, I would like to thank the Moderator for accepting me as a member

of your group. My name is Ted and I am 46 years old.

My Story: Last year, as a I was randomly searching for Podcasts that

were interesting to listen to on my commute I ran across 's

Inside-Out Weightloss Podcast and I was hooked. I got off my behind and

decided to take control of my body and my life. I was 219 pounds on a 5

foot 8 frame. Today I am 175.4 (this morning's weight) and I feel a lot

better. I did it by controlling my calorie intake, getting back into the

gym after 10 years of not being there and thinking before ingesting.

However, I am not done. The " problem " with losing weight is that the

body remains soft in some areas, like the stomach, so I am looking to

become more defined as they say.

I want to be part of a group of people I can help support in their

quest. It is not an easy road. Changing the course of one's life is a

lot like steering the Queen ; you can't just turn on a dime. I am

also looking to receive inspiration from you, the members, for when I am

about to fall back into one of those mental places that I am constantly

pulling away from but seem to have their own gravitational pull.

Thank you again and I look forward to reading your stories and

participating in your conversations.

Hi Ted:

Here's what I remind myself of when I go into those mental places:

" When I'm in my head, I'm in a VERY bad neighborhood. " : )

Hi ,

Thank you for the nice, warm welcome. Most of the time I enjoy being in

my head because it is like a carnival. I just have to have a better

bouncer at the door to keep some things out.

Hi Ted,

It's wonderful to have you here. Congratulations on all your success thus

far. You're so right about gradual changes- that is the only method I have

found so far that seems to be really working. I've finally been making

changes that I really believe I can stick with for the rest of my life,

which is what has to happen for me to achieve my goals.

What you said about mental places with their own gravitational pull is so

easy to relate to. This is a big reason why I finally have started to share

a bit, rather than just reading. Sometimes I just really need to get things

out. Listening and reading has helped me immensely! But sharing how I feel,

what I've been going through, what I'm thinking about.. that is therapeutic

on another level entirely.

Looking forward to hearing more from you!

Welcome to our group Ted. You have had an incredible journey so far towards a

healthier lifestyle. I know you must be feeling incredibly proud of yourself to

have come this far. Hope we can help you out as you continue on this new path

and I'm sure you will be helping us out as we continue on ours.

I can so relate when you compare changing your lifestyle to trying to steer the

Queen ! It feels oh so impossible some days and so so hard on others and

lots of times you just want to put it on autopilot so it would be easier. I

guess as says I still have work to do since *sigh* it all feels so hard

still.
