Guest guest
I am glad that you are here. Is it possible that your blood sugar drops about now...2 hours after eating and it is your bodies way of trying to gfet it back up. I wonder if you might experiement with different foods that might stabilize blood sugar all day. May be cutting some higher sugars out of your lunch and adding snacks every two to three hours....just thinking. Sometimes if our bodies need something they only know how to express that need with the itme that gets its need met quickest....ie., sugar in coke and other sugars quickly raise the blood sugar levels. Even if it is too high and the cycle begins again. Good luck.   Livingston ________________________________ To: insideoutweightloss Sent: Thu, June 30, 2011 7:21:20 AM Subject: my binge...is calling  Hi there, I have been listening to on and off for some time now. Just bought her 3 in 1 guided tours. Apparently I can sabotage my self sabotage, nearly the whole day. And I can see both the negative and positive gifts. Until 2 hours after lunch (so right about now) and when my logic goes out the window and I just crave some sweets and a bottle of coca cola. I thought that if I wrote about it and reached out for your help...then maybe I will think twice before reaching for the sugar Thanks in advance Saga
Guest guest
oh - good catch! your reply also reminded me that we seem to have a natural 'drop' from how our bodies work and food adds to that from what I read -- here's a clip This mid-afternoon drop in energy levels is linked to the brain’s circadian rhythm and is ‘hard wired’ into the human body. Prevention may be impossible, but there are ways to reduce the severity of the slump, including: * Incorporate fatigue-fighting suggestions as you can into your lifestyle. A fit, healthy and well-rested body is less prone to severe drowsiness in the afternoon. * Eat a combination of protein and carbohydrates for lunch, for example a tuna sandwich. Carbohydrates provide glucose for energy. * More good reasons to eat protein for lunch – the amino acid, tyrosine, allows the brain to synthesise the neurotransmitters, dopamine and norepinephrine, which helps keep your mind attentive and alert. * Get moving. A brisk walk or even 10 minutes of stretching at your desk improves blood flow and boosts energy. I'm big on walking after my lunch - it seems to keep everything going! ________________________________ To: insideoutweightloss Sent: Thursday, June 30, 2011 8:23 AM Subject: Re: my binge...is calling  I am glad that you are here. Guest guest
Good call, ... Saga, you might want to look into " reactive hypoglycemia " : http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/reactive-hypoglycemia/AN00934 I had a terrible time with this when I was dieting by calorie restriction. Now that I'm going more by hunger signals--and including more fats in each meal or snack--it's a lot better. Give us an update, OK? ________________________________ To: insideoutweightloss Sent: Thu, June 30, 2011 6:23:09 PM Subject: Re: my binge...is calling I am glad that you are here.
