As for your limiting beliefs, I think it is necessary to really listen to your

self talk about the subject of weight loss. My beliefs are still coming out to

me. Just yesterday, I realized that part of me didn't want to worry about

exercising because my body and skin will not be the same as it was when I was

younger and fit. But, it was just a fleeting thought that happened to cross my

mind and I caught it.

As for the positive intent, maybe someone else has a good answer for you.

Limiting beliefs

I'm still trying to figure out what my limiting beliefs are. How can I change

my limiting beliefs if I don't know what they are? Is it necessary to know the

positive intent of unwanted behaviors before you can change them?

Hi Eldred,

I don't think there's an easy answer to this. I have some limiting beliefs too

that I'm not sure of the positive intent. Or maybe I should say that I think I

know what the positive intent it, but it doesn't " resonate " with me, so I'm not

sure if I've got it right.

As for figuring them out, I found one of my biggest limiting beliefs while in

the shower. I find that if I " chase " after my limiting beliefs, nothing comes.

But if I focus on something else and get on with life, something will come up.

Sort of like when you forget something and you try so hard to remember, but you

can't. Then, suddenly, it'll pop into your head later on when you're no longer

thinking about it.

I agree. Eldred maybe  you could start by making one small positive change and

just forget about the limiting belief for the time being. I also can not figure

out what mine is. Ideas sort of come and go but no real aha moments yet. So I

have slowly been working on making positive changes over the months and I'm in a

place right now where I eat healthy food most of the times and work out on a

daily basis. Maybe my limiting belief was an everything or nothing mentality. I

was either " on " my " diet " or " off " it whereas now I just try to incorporate as

many healthy foods as I can and have stopped thinking about what I shouldn't

eat. By the time I eat my oatmeal and raisons and banana and a raw salad and

some fruits and yougurt and raw nuts and some dried fruits and have a smoothie

or a green juice I'm feeling so good about myself that I hate to mess it up with

a cream puff or a hamburger and fries!! (Even though I still have not figured

out how to tune out

those chocolate bars which scream at the tops of their sweet voices!)

You know Tania I hadn't thought about that as a limiting belief...I've had a few

of those moments lately. I think that " No matter how hard I try I will never

have the body I had when I was younger " , or " at my age I'll never be able to get

back down to my desired weight " and no matter how much effort I put into it,

I'll never be able to run like I want to or play tennis as well as I used to " .

Those are limiting beliefs, aren't they??

Thanks for sharing and making me rethink my negative limiting beliefs!!!
