Guest guest
I would. I've been away from IOWL for a year or so and have been steadily gaining weight and hating myself for it. But I pre-ordered the book in a moment of.... not desperation... more of a moment of " my inner self sneaking out for a bit and taking control of what I need " . Anyway, it came yesterday and I read the intro about starting a support group. I immediately thought of all the IOWL messages I delete without reading. I thought I should start reading them again. And what's the first one? Yours! Asking for a new group. Can you say " fate " ? So, I guess I'm ready to take back my life and start living again. (ok.... I'm crying now) Ready to stop hating myself. Ready to be rid of emotional eating once and for all! Guest guest
I'm right there with you! I joined this group right after I found 's podcasts, but I haven't used it at all. What a waste! I, too, have been letting my emotional eating get out of control. I have all the podcasts downloaded, but I don't listen to them as I should. I get distracted and have to keep rewinding. It gets frustrating, and I give up. I was so glad that published this book so that I can follow it now, and have easy access to all the wisdom later. Anyway, last summer I found a new MD who studied with Weil in Arizona. We were working together to add more healthy foods to my diet, find activities I enjoyed and could use for exercise. It was going great until my adult son moved back home. He got a job near us and will stay with us until his schedule stabilizes and he can find his own apartment. I can't stop living like he is here for a school break or vacation. I'm fixing our old favorite meals, buying extra snacks, hanging around watching movies, and generally acting like it's a holiday--since August! We had a talk about this the other day, and we have decided to end the holiday and start living like we should. He's not one to follow a weight loss book, so I'm looking to you and others on this page to provide mutual support. Tell me about yourself. What are your main struggles with weight? > > > ** > > > > > > FULL-FILLED arrived yesterday, and I an so excited to get started on this > > program. Guest guest
I'm new to this type of communication, so bear with me, Patti! I thought I had replied before, but I don't see the post anywhere. Anyway, it seems that we share the same struggle. I keep asking myself, " How did I let this happen?! " I know that I need to be active and eat healthily to stay in shape, but now I am almost 50 lbs. overweight, and can't seem to get myself to do what I need to do. I've downloaded the posdcasts, and have listened to many of them. I get distracted, though, and have to keep backing up and replaying them. I'm hoping that I do better with the book. I'm going to give it the six weeks called for, and do my best. I'm a little older than most of those who post--63--and am so afraid that I will get too old to get my health back. Not that it's been all that bad, but I am close to being put on meds for blood pressure and cholesterol, and I want to avoid that. I don't want to start relying on chemicals to keep me alive! Tell me about yourself and what your struggles are with weight. I'm sure we can help and support each other, and maybe even a few others will get on board. has a page of Facebook that I " liked " today. I'm hoping that we can get some extra insight from that. She also has an online class, but there is an additional cost for that, so I'm passing on that for now. Hope to hear back from you soon! Guest guest
I'd love to join a group too. I have listened to many of the podcasts and I thought that they would really work for me. But, like some have said, I lost my way. I didn't have a convenient way to listen to them (in the car, etc.) so I kind of got away from them. I ordered Full-Filled because I feel that Rene's method is the only one that not only creates awareness of behavior but also helps you find ways to change the behavior. For entire 2011 I have been in treatment for triple negative breast cancer. Now that I'm done with most of the treatments and surgeries, I'm ready to take control over my health. The first step is to take off some of the weight that is negatively affecting my health. Hopefully this program will help. Thanks for kicking off a group. Hopefully it will help me not just shove the book aside in mid-January when my motivation wears off. Diane in Michigan Re: Anyone want to start a FULL-FILLED support group? I would. Guest guest
Im sure your motivations are good, but I think it important to stick with the yahoo group where it is already established, not to dilute or splinter the support. I'm sure there are some potential friend we would miss along the way if we all move to google. Let's respect what has already in place for us. Guest guest
I agree. The more people whom 's hard work reaches, the more we are all helped, and it would make me sad to think that new members who have never heard of the book would miss so much if we are discussing its contents elsewhere. If IOWL members want to keep book work distinct from the regular Yahoo messages, or highlight those book-based messages as being special, we could preface the subject line with [FF] or something similar. Guest guest
I'm not trying to take away from this group. I plan on being active in both. (I need all the help I can get!) I certainly didn't mean to offend, or step on anyone's toes. I apologize if I did. I just thought a separate group to discuss the book might help some people. And opening up a new group with the book's name might attract new people to be helped. You said it in your post " the more people whom 's hard work reaches, the more we are all helped " . has mentioned in her podcasts to start groups on our own. She even says it in her book. She never said the Yahoo group is the only group allowed. Anyway, I didn't mean to be controversial. I was just trying to help. If people want to stay here, that's fine. If people want to join the new group, you are welcome. Or join both. I won't be offended if no one joins the new group. Again, sorry if I offended anyone..... I really was only trying to do good. Guest guest
I am should receive my copy of the book today. I am going to work through the book but like " skwpt " I would like to see the discussion here. I have received a lot of help  and wisdom from both the regulars on this group and those who post on intermittently to this group and I would hate to miss out on their input. The more people who are sharing and posting here the most useful it will be to others. So if my .02 counts I would like to see you all who are wanting to work through the book stay here. )   Livingston ________________________________ To: " insideoutweightloss " <insideoutweightloss > Sent: Saturday, December 31, 2011 8:38 AM Subject: Re: Anyone want to start a FULL-FILLED support group?  I agree. Guest guest
Patti, I agree with completely, and I apologize if I came across as terse. I tend to be that way purely for the sake of efficiency and forget how terseness can be interpreted online as being brusque or prescriptive. That is not my intent, but I admit my desires to keep discussions in this list are partly selfish. I am already so busy and spend far more time online than I should; thus having another group to monitor puts me at risk for not keeping up. But that's just me. Every one of us has every right to do what we feel is best. If I need more, I'll find a way to get it. I always get what I want if I want it bad enough. ________________________________ To: " insideoutweightloss " <insideoutweightloss > Sent: Saturday, December 31, 2011 10:56 AM Subject: Re: Anyone want to start a FULL-FILLED support group?  I think everyone appreciates what you are doing. At least I do. No offense taken. I was just expressing my hope that you'all stay and particpate here.  Livingston ________________________________ To: insideoutweightloss Sent: Saturday, December 31, 2011 9:22 AM Subject: Re: Anyone want to start a FULL-FILLED support group? Guest guest
Actually, I tend to agree with moving the book discussion to a separate place. The pace is different, since it's set up for 6-week cycles. If a lot of people are posting about the book here, we risk drowning out questions or comments from people who aren't reading. Or from people who are starting at different times--I downloaded my copy a day or two ago, but I won't be really starting for another week or two.... (Probably on the SparkPeople IOWL team.) Either way, it will work out. :-) > I'm not trying to take away from this group. I plan on being active in > both. (I need all the help I can get!) Guest guest
I agree. I was assuming that this group was my support group. It's the obvious place to share our thoughts on the book as we go through it. However, that being said, waking up to 17 new messages in my inbox feels like i've signed onto a spam generator. This could be intimidating to someone tring to jump in. does anyone have further thoughts on this? Guest guest
Patti The book suggests that we buddy-up and/or form small groups. I think that the Google group will help with that. Since I first posted the call for a Full Filled group on Yahoo, I have gotten more responses than can be handled in the way suggests in the book. I plan do do both, like you.
