Guest guest
Hello friends.. I have been an inactive member (mostly) of this group for almost a year.. I have 's new book and I joined her special " class " and I am pumped. This is what I just posted on the special class forum as an introduction. I will gladly participate on any forum here about Full-filled as well. I look forward to the journey with each of you: If any of you would like info to start your own support group (why reinvent the wheel?) I'd be happy to email my materials to you. ------------------------------------------------------------ Hi Annette, and future classmates!! Happy New Year. Annette, we are both in the midwest and I would be happy to be your " health " (NOT diet) buddy! I have listened to the first 50 or so podcasts, so have quite a ways to go. I am 55, married, no kids, self-employed. I live in beautiful Galena, Illinois.. formerly from the hustle and bustle of Chicagoland. Previous career until 5 years ago was in corporate America in the insurance biz.. Since then my own at-home business making dip mixes/soup mixes/seasonings and selling them online and at farmers' markets. It was a fine transition from corporate America, but because of doing some " work within " I now realize my business does not fulfill me and I really don't want to do it any longer although dh does.. a topic for another day, but I am sure this is part of my " issues " . Weight related… I have always had either a real weight problem or a " thought I had a weight problem " .. from the age of like 5… I have dieted and then " not cared " myself up to being 100 lbs overweight. The good news is that over the last six months I have connected with " the universe " and several people have dropped into my lap to get me out of the place my brain called " Hate myself thin " for most of my life. One of those people was ' and her IOWL podcasts. Another one was a Life Coach just starting out.. Since I do online pr and social media as a side passion, we barter.. I get her expertise and she gets mine.. win-win.. It's incredible what she has done for me.. She has used hypnosis, nlp and other things ' discusses. I am so pumped for this journey that I am taking 's suggestions about starting a support group. Mine starts on Mon. Jan 9th and meets at our local hospital twice a month. Between meetings I have started a private support forum on Facebook as well as a public page called " look within for thin " . Our agenda includes discussing 's podcasts, reviewing other non-diet methods (Intuitive Eating, Mindful Eating, Normal Eating) and a book club.. the first book Geneen Roth's Women, Food and God. I am linking members to 's website and asking them to download her Motivation Worksheets, etc. The Full-filled book will be a future book club book, but for the first one I wanted our members to have several outlooks and opinions from a different author. I am also working on a blog about my journey.. I really am making this my life purpose and I KNOW I can do this and help others do the same. Nothing else would bring me greater joy! I look forward getting to know each of you and know we can all make a huge difference in our journeys when supporting each other! Guest guest
It's nice to meet you Judy! My name is Amelia, I'm from the Seattle area. I've been fighting my weight since I was about 16. That was the year that I stopped being active but continued to eat the way I always had. Lots of ugly habits there. Prior to 16 I was extremely active -- basketball, track, swimming, etc. I was never " slender, " but I was bullied a lot and that was one of the reasons I stopped participating and developed a " hatred " for sports. Over the years, I've tried to diet and regained to the point where I'm not about 150 lbs. overweight. I have a great many symptoms relating to my weight, both physical and emotional. I'[m tired of fighting so hard. I'm ready to let go of the struggle and let go of the extra weight. I stayed away from super " faddy " diets, but I tried most of the commercial ones like Weight Watchers and Craig. I do well for awhile, then the bad habits creep in. I struggle with perfectionism. If I blow a day, I may as well blow the week, and so on. I love the idea of dealing with the stuff in my head, and really working on the problems that are keeping me from losing the weight and keeping my in an ugly mindset. Last year I had some major life changes occur. My son has Asperger's, and the past year has been really difficult. Something very bad happened to him at the beginning of last year, and he spent a lot of time inpatient in the hospital. I wound up having to leave my steady, secure 40 hrs a week job, so I could be home and help solve problems at school. To help support my family I have started doing freelance writing work. While I enjoy the work -- it's something I always wanted to do -- I sometimes feel " forced " into it, if that makes any sense. I'm still working to get it off the ground, so things are really shaky financially. Anyway, that's my story. Didn't mean that to be so long, lol. I start week 2 tomorrow, and this week I lost over 4 lbs, so far so good, right? I'm working on this with a good friend of mine. We are our own little support group " unit " Today I tried something totally different -- ball yoga -- and I absolutely loved it. I was able to do all the positions, thanks to the support of the ball, and it felt so good on my back. Finally, exercise I'm excited about!! > ** > > > Hello friends.. Guest guest
One of the difficulties with an asperger child is remembering that you are important too. Use some of that time at home to care for yourself and explore your own needs and desires. Your child and you will both be stronger for it. Guest guest
It's really true. Last year was all about taking care of him. Guest guest
Hi Amelia, and others! I am sorry to hear about your son Amelia.. Guest guest
Well! talk about peer pressure! hahaa. all this Full filled talk, really talked me into it, and I downloaded an electronic version of the book yesterday. I'm a bit confused about all the sources of support group after all the talk.... are we staying here in the Yahoo group, going somewhere else, or what? I will definitely want to participate but not sure where this is going. I am thinking of joining 's special 6 week " class " . are you folks going to do this too? I think this would be a good idea... perhaps we could find each other on chat from time to time as well. Anyway, I'm a new member in the group from December. Needing to get back in control of my use of food for things not hunger related! I know I can do this, but feeling like it's a bit more challenging at 50 than I found it at 40. It's true I've slowed down a little! With that, I am off for a walk now. One foot in front of the other, let's go. K > > Hello friends.. > ------------------------------------------------------------ > > Hi Annette, and future classmates!! Happy New Year. > > Namaste' and ((e-hugs)), > > Judy >
Guest guest
I am signed up for the class, but will try to report here as well. You do not have to be available for the Monday áudio calls since they will be recorded for playback. > > > I am thinking of joining 's special 6 week " class " . are you folks > > going to do this too? > > > > K > > > > >
