I can relate to that, but in my case it's because I'm unorganized. My schedule

isn't as busy as yours. I *should* get up at 6am, but I usually don't get up

until 6:30. No time to fix and eat breakfast at home, so I grab something from

Mc's. When I get home, I only have a little while until I go

bowling(tues, wed, thur). By the time I get home from that, it's about 11pm,

and of course I have to get something to eat and catch up on e-mail. Finally

get to bed at about midnight.

But, I wouldn't know what to do to renew either. Watch TV? I seldom take the

time to just SIT and watch. I'm usually on my computer if I have any free time.

Try a meditation while you shower (or 's journeys)!! Maybe some music that

really gets you hyped-up while you shower. It works wonders. Also, think outside

the box. Do you enjoy things that smell totally wonderful?? How about buying

some 's Secret (or its equivalent) Body Scrubs or shower gels? I love

that! It makes you feel feminine and the smell works sensory wonders. Your

senses make your body feel you went to a spa. How about getting some really sexy

smelling splashes? It takes a minute and it always makes you feel good (cause

you smell so delicious). These are some of the things I do. They take no extra

time and make a difference. How about lighting a couple of candles around the

house and listening to some music while you cook? Make a really nice cd with

music that jazzes you and play it as soon as you get home. Try to make it a long

list. If you want suggestions or help, tell me what you like and I'll help you

put together a playlist =)

If you have time for web-surfing, I recommend pinterest.com. Its a world of

beautiful images that always cheers me up.

I'm not sure of how you would like to renew, but I'm sure I can come up with

some ideas to help you!

Be blessed.

could you use your 'train' time?  when I switched from driving myself to work

to taking the bus (which adds another 15 minutes to my commute time!) - I found

that I used that time to listen to podcasts on my ipod and that my commute

became much more peaceful between no driving & the 30 minutes each way spent

listening to and a few others.  Plus the walk from the bus stop to home

always invigorates ..  Having some quiet (uninterrupted) time or 'me' time

helps me to empty my head (sometimes just having the time to make lists also

helps to empty) ...

I think it might be helpful to start with the question.  What would renew me?

What are specific things that I would like to do that could help me to feel more

renewed, satisfied and happy?  Once you have that list maybe you get break it

down into smaller bites that will fit in during lunch or on the ride to work,

andmaybe you can find time in your schedule to do a bigger thing once a week -

like rather than come home directly after work, go directly to the beach for a

long walk.  Just my 2 cents.

I am stuck. I'm really struggling with the first exercise of week 3, but I think

it should be easy. I fight the clock every day. I leave the house at 6am, and

get home at 6pm. During this time I am running to catch the train, hurrying to

work, rushing from meeting to meeting, running again to catch the train, hurry

Could it be that possibly there might be a positive intent to staying so busy ,

and that it might be the same one that is keeping you from progressing in other

ways?

Personnaly, I'm going on my 3rd week of week 2.

One of my problems with renewal is that I get bored by doing the same thing

every day/week. Ill get into yoga for a while, but after a while it becomes

just another thing that I have to make time for, and im not very renewed by it

anymore. Its really more of a disillusion problem - im looking for a magic pill

that will make my life wonderful, and all I find is exercise and a good stretch.

Its almost like im going at these things hoping that im going to learn how to

levitate.

I’m still on week 2 so I haven’t read any of the assignments on renewal yet.

That being said, something has come to me as I’ve been reading other’s posts

on this subject. I am pretty good at doing things I “want†to do and that

renew me. However, what I’m “bad†at is not paying attention to things

that “drain†me and that I am able to do something about. The big thing

that comes to mind is the “clutter†in my house. I know the organized areas

of my house make me feeling good when I look at them. However, when I look at

my covered kitchen table, it drains me. When it’s cleaned off, I feel

peaceful when I see it. Perhaps if you can’t find something to renew you;

maybe you can find something to get rid of that is draining you. Just a

thought….

Thank you to all for your suggestions and replies. They really helped me

in that I awoke to the fact that what I needed most of all was an

attitiude adjustment. It turns out that I do things every day to renew

myself, but didn't view them in that way.

After reading the chapter and reflecting, I developed my " Daily

Renewal " List by thinking about the positive intents of my

overeating, which are: Rewarding myself, Relaxing, and Relating to

Others.

i. Level One – Reward Renewals

a. Spend time in the Steam Room after exercise

b. Keep my nails trimmed and polished (fingers AND toes)

c. Mini Meditation – " Damn, I'm Good "

d. Open my thoughts and eyes during my daily commute to experience the

facts that I work in a vibrant city, I have a good job, I have access to

reliable transportation and I am capable of walking.

e. Stay hydrated throughout the day

ii. Level One – Relax Renewals

a. Eat a good breakfast, enjoy my coffee

b. Read a book or watch GOOD TV for 30 minutes

c. Eat lunch at work in a private conference room – not to be

secretive with food, but to take myself out of the game for 20 minutes

d. Take 10 minutes after arriving home, before starting dinner, to

wash my face, change my clothes and stretch.

e. Take 15 minutes after dinner to brush my teeth, think about my day,

do a Re-do or Pre-do and write in my gratitude journal

f. Mini Meditation – " All is Well and All Will Be Well "

iii. Level one – Relating Renewals

a. After quietly eating lunch, join a table in the cafeteria to

connect socially with others

b. When talking / listening to others, pay attention to the moment,

instead of focusing on an end result or my next task

c. Mini Meditation – " Namaste " , meaning, " I salute

your presence in the universe "

d. Find at least 2x per day when I can talk directly to someone in the

office, rather than sending an e-mail

b.

Wow! What great ideas you have! This really inspires me to catch up on my weeks!

I've let it go to take care of some family issues. Thanks so much for sharing
