Guest guest
Hey Mel, I just recently read of a similar situation occurring with a bad reaction to a medication. Thumbs up on the alert! I think whenever someone starts a medication they should alert someone to the possible effects that can occur.... no matter how high a risk they are to the possibilities. Certain combinations of drugs can not always be expected to interact specifically with known effects so is best to always use the extreme cautuon. I think i have a cast iron stomach so far. There have been times when I have had some problems but I also take Prilosec for GERD so it seems to help keep me in check. Nice to meet you by the way!! Always, pam / cloud i had a bad reaction to celebrax, and my gf from NY almost died. she had to have 5units of blood and half her tummy removed. my doc did the same thing on celebrax, he took 10units to save him. OK, TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW,ESP YOUR IN-HOUSE FAMILY, IF THEY FIND YOU SLEEPING AT AN ODD TIME FOR YOU, MAKE SURE YOU AREN'T IN A COMA. you go unconscience when you lose so much blood so fast. you don't know it is happening.please be carefulxoxoxomel> Rox> > Welcome to the group. Guest guest
Celebrex is a new class of drugs called 2 inhibitors. Another on is Vioxx. although different, they carry the same cautions as nsaids. They are less likely to, but still can have serious consequences in the gi system. It is my personal opinion, gotten from my own miserable experience & others, that *every* person taking either of these type of drugs also have prescribed a reasonable dose of medications that tend to protect the stomach from ulceration, like Tagamet or Prevacid. Tagamet is available as an inexpensive generic (cimetidine) and would probably be prescribed 300 mg. twice daily. Then, if there was any stomach problem at all, one should immediately go off the 2 or Nsaid medication and determine the cause. Prevacid is not yet generic, a once-daily med, and possibly a little more effective. But cimetidine works. Why doctors don't do this automatically just escapes me. I had plenty of gastric trouble, was maintained on high doses of nsaids, and nearly died with perforated ulcer & perforated peritoneum. Probably totally preventable. If it is only in a coma that trouble is detected, you have a great chance of having toxemia, toxic slop in many body cavities; which can be extremely hard to treat, if caught in time. We are talking close to fatal here. BTW, I have been a Celebrex success story. And my doc & I both knew it was a risk with my history. But I was watched carefully. Guest guest
Hi all. My son is here from Edmonton for the school break. Glad to be able to eat with him again. Much to be thankful for. I am so glad to be healthy and sober and thinking clearly so I can be present for this time. Concerned about my oldest but glad he is on his own. They all grow up at their own speed. Watched the movie " The Blind Side. " Great story, very inspiring, even though it had a lot of football stuff in it and I am not a sports guy. It was more about family and courage than anything else. Did not pig out on food over this weekend either and I am delighted and a bit surprised. We played an audition for a festival this afternoon too, doing children's stuff in a bar. I have a very brave wife. She silenced the room with her songs and her ventriloquism. I am proud of her and my youngest who rocked the upright bass. Glad my banjo solo went well and a bit disgusted with my guitar solo. Overall it was good.
