Hello, all. Just getting started with IOWL and wanted to introduce myself. I'm

41 and live in Texas. I've struggled with weight issues for most of my life and

am ready to make a permanent change. I have a fantastic husband and great

friends and family. The only person I'm not happy with is myself. It's time to

turn that around and hopefully this is going to be one of the tools that helps

me to facilitate that change. Thank you and I look forwarding to discussing

MANY issues as they come up along this journey. :-)

Welcome!

The journey is just that and no more or less. What I find is that it is really

nice to have somebody with you when the road gets rocky or steep. Also, just

like on any trip, the shortest distance between any two places is usually under

construction.

> Hi, my name is Brittany. I have attempted to lose weight this pat decade more

times than I can remember. I am looking for a solution to not only get the

weight off, but keep it off. I have just listened to the first few podcasts and

am ready to find lasting motivation!

Hi Brittany, welcome! I find the podcasts & the book FullFilled very helpful

along with the journaling. I have struggled with an extra 20 pounds for 35

years, tried all kinds of diet and exercise, to only loose some and gain it all

back and more. I have lost 6 pounds so far since I started 2 months ago and it

was not hard...just a steady becoming aware of what I eat, how I feel, and

working with my deeper feelings and thoughts when I overeat....actually I am

surprised at myself! What helps me to be aware of what I eat is that I write

down everything I eat for a day or two or longer if I need to self-correct

myself. I find myself eating smaller portions. i now listen to my body about

50% of the time and learning to differientiate between hunger and

thirst.....last night I chose to have a small peice of pumpkin pie (homemade

with no crust) with whip cream . I had left room for this so I would not feel

stuffed. There was no guilt or " should not " about it....amazing! I have a plan

that seems to work for me: I have mostly weaned myself from any

sugars....sugars are so addicted ... I stopped eating sugars and ate more

proteins & fiber foods to stabilize my blood sugar. It took about 3 days for

the sugar cravings to go away ...and I feel so much more alive and

energetic...that was 2 months ago and now I have the occasional sugar craving

only and do forgive myself for the little ginger chocolate binges

occasionally.......I become aware and self correct and do not go on days on end

of binges like in the past. I eat wholesome foods and they are very tasty.

There is lots of diabetes in my immediate family...so am strongly motivated to

be healthy & slim for the rest of my life and with s' method and

learning new skills and changing by limited beleifs I know that I can do it for

the rest of my life because it is not restricting and deprivation!!

Thank for sharing , it's reassuring to know that someone else has

struggled for a while with that amount weight to lose. Keep the great work and

congrats on the 6 pound weight loss.
